Here's a odd story emerging
« on: 22 May 2016, 08:18:38 pm »
On another forum a bloke has spotted this 1992 Fireblade for sale with 20,000 miles on it, he rang up about it and the dealer said it sold the same day.
Well

He says he has proof he saw it with 98,000 miles in 2005, now it has only 20,000,,a bit odd ,,,or BAD dealer.
His quote
"October 2005 was 98684 and 6020 the following year, possibly had a new set of clocks put in"
here was the add
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231948715469

He is going to contact the seller tomorrow

Could it not just be that it's gone round the clock, that is, it's now at 120,000 miles?
Of course, you'd think that the dealer would have looked into the history and would know that it had more than 20k on the clock, but is just advertising what is showing, being ambiguous with the adverts wording.
It's obviously worked if he's sold it. Unfortunately it's a case of buyer beware.  :rolleyes

If the pics are genuine, it looks in remarkable condition for having done +120k miles.

The dealer has another early Blade on their web-site, also looking to be in brilliant condition for its age and mileage.

Won't it show up on the MOT?

A '92 plate with 120k+ miles, it's gonna be like Trigger's broom!  :eek

This dealer may very well be legit, but with so much bike theft about it's not difficult to chop and change parts from crashed or stolen bikes. I'd check documents, engine, frame numbers, mot's and receipts before buying something like that. It doesn't all have to be original, as long as the story fits.
