as per sods law the weather chooses to break tomorrow and we will literally be riding just ahead of major rain, don't ask about sunday for coming home!

will be good anyway just for the alpine pass bit if nothing else. still hope rain holds off too :P

Good luck guys...the weather forecast I have just seen doesn't look great for you.
Applecross is on my list of rides to do....enjoy yourselves, whatever the weather.

Remember what a famous Glaswegian said,,,its not the weather that's bad, just the wrong clothes!

My mate and I went a couple of months back there. From Glasgow, an overnight stay with beer and nonsense, and back. It was raining sideways and we still had a blast.

We stayed here for the night - http://applecross.uk.com/campsite/wigwams.htm

The loop around Applecross is quite stunning. I have seen a fair bit of my country on a bike, and this is outstanding. As long as you can stick the arctic conditions (read "not for them soft southerners with their sunshine and the like  :lol ).

Have a great time and keep your eyes peeled for the random kambers and weird grooves in the road.

Wow. Mick, that looks stunning! I've done the alternative route that looks like it's crossing some kind of moonscape, up to Torridon. One day I've promised myself to do that Applecross road, but never imagined it to look like that - can see now what all the fuss is about!

Done it three times, twice on bike and once in the car. Car journey was the best weather, typical innit? Views from the top over the islands are stunning.
It's a nice ride and not difficult, unlike Wrynose and Hartside in the Lakes.

Hope you guys have a great time doing the cattle pass to Applecross, one of the best roads in the UK imo, last up there in late summer 2011, got 3 days perfect weather, had to ride back to Hull in one go on the Sunday but well worth the numb bum!! Hoping to get back up that way in mid september

It's a great road but wasn't in the best condition last time I used it. Still enjoyed it though  :)
