So most helpful breakers I have ever dealt with sorted the bracket and bolts I needed and it all lines up great and does what it should.......
BUT I have no stop rubber lol  :rollin
I have a while to sort it as only really want the stand for when I go on a two week Euro tour next June....
Now to take the bugger off again tomorrow..... yep it's a bit of a git  :lol

I did this and yep as soon as you get cheque they start taking money back, my scheme stated that the bike remained their property until all money is paid back and that under certain circumstances they could ask for it to be taken in (lose job etc...).
Like you I had a bit extra left over so got bits for the bike but only bits I could return with it if needed  :)

Yamaha never fitted a centre stand the the N, I don't think one fits, I believe the rear end is different for the as well

Hi
I knew they never fitted one as standard on the N but did read that in the US some guys fitted them with no mention of a missing mounting point.
There is a mounting point on the other side.

Sooooo I got a stand from a breakers on ebay,  offered it up to the bike and there is nothing to mount it to on the rear brake pedal side?
Has anyone got a picture showing that side mounted or aware of what it is I am missing?
Cheers.

Fitted new heated grips and finished fitting my new givi rack and box with built in stop lights. ..
Did not want heated grips cluttering up this bike but the 6 am chill is getting to my pinkies  :lol
Went for the Datatool ones as the controller is built into the left grip  :D

Sure looks the dogs balls ill give it that 8)

But whenever i consider a flip lid i think well why dont i just get a cool looking open face and some cool goggles because i wouldnt trust the flip part in a crash and if anything....right or wrong i can see the flip part jarring, carching, disintegrating and turning into lots of spikey bits right near my face and neck.

Sorry slappy....thats really morbid...just my thoughts......im a cheerful foccer :evil

Edit...oops sorry mike....not trying to make you paranoid mate :lol

Spoke to Tony Archer today, he is going to gel my seat for a whopping  £60  :D
He said it will be full gel not an insert. He also said when done it's great for some people but not for everyone.
Fair enough but at that price it's worth a go  :)

Thinking about buying one, has anyone used/got one and if so are they any good?

I have one, great helmet but can feel a bit turbulent at speed. Wind noise is low and very comfortable.
I recently changed to a Nexx Xr2 as wanted full face, it's great but not as comfortable as the Duke.

Tried the Sargent seat and Yamaha Gel seat but thought both were mince.
Eventually bought a seat customised by Tony Archer and it is fantastic.

I have dealt with Tony personally a few years ago for a seat for another bike and he provides a quality product but it does take some time for him to provide the finished article.

Thanks that's helpful as was going to try a Yamaha gel one.
Picked up a bike for a mate Saturday,  that has a seat by Tony so will see how he gets on with it. Might just give them a call to see what they can do for me  :)

It is very clean well cared for bike, new owner is very happy  :D
Met one of the former owners who had all the bits done including the Ivan touch  :D
He is a member on here too, never asked his user name though.
Long day but we'll worth it  8)

General / Sargent seat.... :(
« on: 26 September 2015, 08:03:42 pm »
So I bit the bullet and got a new Sargent seat for my FZ1, totaled 7 hrs riding today and could not wait to get off the bike  :'(
It is easily just as uncomfortable as the standard seat so will hopefully be returning for a full refund.
Gutted as most reviews I read were very good, no breaking in needed... Apparently great from the off....
Anyone else tried one, thoughts?

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Tick tick bloody tick....
« on: 21 September 2015, 07:50:11 pm »
I had exactly the same ticking on mine which developed at a similar mileage.
It was due to an excessive valve clearance on the far right inlet valve, just next to the camchain  ;)
I set all the clearances to within spec & the ticking was no more.

Edit: On a general note, valve clearances can tick & worn chains rattle.

Cheers  :'(
That's not a job for me, will have a chat with the garage and go from there...

Anyone else changed the tensioner and still get the ticking??

Short answer - no.  What's the year and mileage?

Worn EXUP bushes and loose EXUP cables can cause ticking sounds.  Locating noises is never a precise sport.

If you tighten the manual tensioner a touch, does the ticking go away ... maybe change to a whirring sound (which means too tight, BTW)?

I'd be taking it back to the garage that sold you a manual tensioner as a cure but seemingly didn't fit it right or didn't correctly diagnose the original fault.

2007 13k
Exup gone but cables still there... Not me and been meaning to remove them..
Not touched the tensioner since it was fitted, done 1k+ miles since it was fitted. Will speak to them next time i am there..

I used to get a tick from my FZ1...at low speeds...like a speedo connector...or a cable tie flicking on the wheel........i remember a few of the FZ1 guys at the time saying that it was fairly common so i suppose normal.....it never affected anything.........funnily enough its only now that ive remembered as i dont think it had it for a while so i can only assume it was actually something to do with one of the systems that i modded, ais, air filter, k and n, pc5 who knows really....i wouldnt worry about it.

Thanks Nog, not worried so much just find it rather irritating  :smash :smash :smash

Ok so ticking I had a few months ago garage advised was worn cam chain tensioner and to change it for a manual one. Ok.
They changed it for me but to be honest the ticking never stopped. ....
It's irritating me again, very noticeable around town riding, clearly coming from the tensioner area...
Anyone else changed the tensioner and still get the ticking??
Cheers.
