Been using Shoeis with specs for years. Currently GT Air and before that Qwest.
Never had any problems. 53
General / Re: what boots??« on: 13 January 2014, 09:57:50 am »
After about 6 years of daily use I replaced my Alpinestars Web Goretex boots with more of the same. Didn't really need replacing but courtesy of someone else's insurance. (Well they got badly scuffed as a result of the SMIDSY)

Nah - I pass there at rush hour so no chance of even getting to 30. Just noticed this morning the cams are aimed at the rear of vehicles.

In case its on your route and you haven't noticed...
The average speed cameras DO apply to bikes here 56

Still - its easier to remove than changing your plugs without removing

De Longi Magnifica for me. Far cheaper in the long run because you just use beans. No mucking about with overpriced pods

Guess its all been said. Important thing to remember is the Gen 2 isn't an upgrade to the Gen 1. Its a different bike. So if you love the FZS and want something newer its not necessarily the automatic choice.
That said there are several likely candidates out there so you could always line up a few fun filled weekends with test rides. 60
General / Re: Road grit« on: 11 December 2013, 11:48:29 am »Message to all car, van and truck drivers. Please try to drive off line to spread grit around the road otherwise the grit builds up exactly where bikes ride. I even drive on the chevrons where its safe to do so to keep it from building up.Ta mate. They were all foccin off line this morning, straddling lanes and sticking out into the oncoming lane. Just what you need when trying to filter in fog. 62
Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: HID best mod yet« on: 09 December 2013, 11:40:05 am »Be careful with the 100Ws. The wiring isn't up to it and will eventually burn out.Have you got projectors fitted or just a linked H1and H4 hid .ive just got the H1 hid and without projectors just throws the light all over the place and is not really any better 63
Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Winter Maintenance - What you guys got planned« on: 09 December 2013, 11:35:54 am »Washing sounds a bit extreme. Pointed a hosepipe at mine this weekend and looking good now all the crud is gone (well not counting what I picked up this morning). Will do it again and top up the ACF before I go on my Christmas hols.I've acf50'd it and that's it really apart from a wash every weekend 64
General / Re: Respect to the LOFOs« on: 06 December 2013, 02:41:20 pm »Reckon it takes around 4 - 6 weeks to acclimatise. Was going to say before you are comfortable but on second thoughts you shouldn't allow yourself to get comfortable. Continuous concentration required (which is what makes it knackering) 65
General / Re: Filtering« on: 26 November 2013, 02:30:30 pm »
What they say. Stay within your comfort zone. You need time to react to the stupidity of others. I recently had a SMIDSY where a lady (well that's not what I called her) executed a U turn. Her indicator wend on when I was level with the FRONT door. Couldn't avoid the accident but the fact that I managed to stop by the time she hit me saved any injury.
TBH at this time of year if the traffic is going at 40 I'll mostly just ride in the centre of the lane. 66
General / Christmas party time« on: 25 November 2013, 11:02:11 am »
A large contingent of fund raisers for the annual police-person's ball was spotted on the A316 this morning all around Richmond, and I did see a motorcyclist being asked for a contribution.[/size]No doubt other areas will be following suit shortly if they haven't already started, so take care out there.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: After Market Exhaust Fzs 1000« on: 13 November 2013, 11:52:32 am »""""Our cans do not require a power commander or remapping, After running on a dyno we have proven increase of mid range power of 4.5BHP!"""" on a FZS1000???Yes but they all say that. What they don't say is "Your bike would definitely benefit from a re-map". Good luck with that on a Gen1. But of course if the bike has been Ivanised you have already done all you need. And if it hasn't - well there is this bloke who lives in Spain ... 69
Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Winter Maintenance - What you guys got planned« on: 13 November 2013, 10:18:48 am »
All ACF'd up and polished. Only plans for winter apart from riding and petrol are keep the scottoiler topped up. Probably wash the crud off in spring .
Oh and service and new tyres next week - because they are due, nothing to do with winter. 70

General / Re: scooters on L plates« on: 13 November 2013, 10:07:29 am »Feckin agree totally - feckers just pop out of traffic when your filtering and just act like cyclists swerving all over the bloody road.Don't get me started. I find revving to the red line (I have no baffle) far more effective than the horn / shouting combo. Although one of the little cnuts, who had thoroughly deserved the treatment, sidled up to me on his smelly two stroke at Trafalgar square recently and said "Excuse me, do you realise that was in my face" 73
