Those nice people at Triumph gave me one to play with when the Tigress was in for a service. Surprised myself in that I rather liked it.


Errr, you do realise you're going to have to adopt a completely different riding style...

Your SP can will work OK with the stock jetting and you might gain a little more power at peak rpm.  If it's a shorter can, though, you might lose a little in the low-mid range but the extra noise will probably hide this by making it at least sound more powerful. 

He's right you know (as always eh Mike). Leave the baffle in though. I have a shorter SP (on a non-fazer) and can't feel any difference low down unless i take the baffle out. Even with the baffle in I can defnitely hear the difference though 

Few years ago I had a SMIDSY with a witness who offered video footage of the whole thing. First thing I did was contact my insurance to tell them what happened. A few days later the drivers insurance phoned and told me to get my bike fixed. Only after it was fixed did I phone my insurance and tell them I wouldn't be claiming. Didn't affect my premiums at all.


Doesn't hurt to keep your options open. If it does go down the insurance route I can't see her insurance quibbling over £1500.

If your front tyres are worn that's normal and they all do it when worn. If they still have plenty of tread it sounds like they are cupped. I'm personally not a fan of 021s and like many love to criticise tyre manufacturers when I have to change a front tyre prematurely.


But if I'm honest its my riding style that kills them. I tend to use only my front brakes. Current job has me doing long distance commuting (180 miles per day) and a lot of that is motorway filtering. When I changed my last pair I still had 3mm in front, 4mm at the rear but the fronts were pretty focced in the same way you describe. When I changed them I needed to replace the front pads but hadn't even broken the factory glaze on the rears. So I decided to consciously use the rear brake (only) for controlling my speed when filtering.


Too early to tell conclusively but after 4k miles the front still feels like the day after I put the new tyres on. Last set was wandering all over the road by 3k. Not saying you need to change the way you ride or that one way is better than the other. I stopped using the rear because of an arhtritic foot. By the time I started getting physio, which has really helped, I had just got out of the habit of using my foot and it had never occured to me to wonder why it was that I was wearing front tyres out quicker than rears.

I did it years ago. Huge improvement to visibility. No noticeable improvement for noise (for me). Ended up putting them back though because I used to do a lot of filtering and it made the bike much wider.

Nooooo you wont - you go and buy them to test them before then spend my money on them.
Got an idea. We can go half's and have one each to test if we both like then we go 1/2s on another set, If one of us like it and one not then we can buy the other off each other.

Seriously though I very much doubt that anyone on here has tried these as the subject comes up every winter and I have been on every post about hand guards and they have never been mentioned.         

I've got some. Think they are great. Been commuting 170 miles per day throughout Winter. Absolutely fine at motorway speeds. No bending or flapping and they don't restrict access to your controls.
They are more like oversized handguards than muffs. so they won't MAKE your hands warm - but they will keep the wind off.

I have some stuff called opti fog I got from an optician. Do need to re-apply it every 2-3 days. My last pair were hideously expensive and on those the stuff lasted about 2 weeks because they had a special coating that was activated by the opti fog. The optician did say that it would work on regular lenses but not as well. Have been commuting all through winter with my glasses.


I do keep the front vents open (always) and avoid letting the neck tube seal the helmet. When its cold I do have to open the visor a bit when I stop. My eyes are actually ok to ride without the glasses and I have tried this in case of extreme fogging, but I'm just more comfortable with perfect vision and so I ride with them.

Is it road legal or a race can ?? And how loud is it ?

Road legal with the baffle in. I do have the baffle but no hanger. Honestly can't remember if it used the OE one or not. I did use it without the baffle about 50% of the time, including commuting into London. It is loud when the EXUP is fully open.

Clearing out the garage and found this sitting on a shelf. Definitely have the can and link pipe, assume the hangar and baffle are still attached but will confirm Monday when I get home.

Do they actually heat up?


I stopped using Oxfords because I had two controllers fail after a single winter. Went for a cheaper option (R&G I think) that used analog controllers and never had a problem again. Could be the controller failed and binned it.

I had Hyperpro progressives on my first Fazer and Ohlins 9.0Nm linear on my second. Both had a Nitron Race rear shock and standard valves in front.
