Generator, Stator/Rotor failure issues. Check out the old posts on this and other Fazer forums. Think it only effects earlier models, Yamaha updated it on later models.

Hello Dan. Sorry it’s sold mate.
Cheers.

Apparently this is not unknown to happen on the FZ1. There are some old posts on this and other forums. Doesn’t help your predicament I know. But there might be others out there who can help, don’t lose hope just yet.

Fowlers parts list shows :- Rotor £655.
                                      Stator £345.
                                 Regulator £236.
Ouch.  :eek There is more than likely after market Regulators available, but don't know if you can get aftermarket Stator or Rotor. Possible used from a breaker?
A very quick internet search found a Rotor for £268. A Stator for £47. ?? Regulator £80. But you need the exact model for proper comparisons.

If the magnets have broken up who knows where the bits might have ended up.

Be interesting to see the photos you have if you can post them.

With the aid/help of a workshop manual could be a diy job? Some other foccer may have experience with this, and offer some advice. With a bit of luck.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Valve check and coolant pipes
« on: 08 May 2019, 07:33:02 am »
Yes you can remove the coolant pipes with the rocker cover on. Try to loosen any crud/corrosion build up first then a blast of compressed air before you remove them, held in with a Allen bolt, you should really replace the “o” rings on re-assembly.  I just rubbed the pipes down and painted then Matt black.

I used a normal set of feeler blades to check valve clearances, needed nothing special. All my clearances where in spec, no adjustments needed. Done at around 27000 miles I think.

FZ6 / Fazer / Re: Head light Covers
« on: 09 March 2019, 11:55:43 pm »
As long as you paint the protector, (not the headlight) just remove the protector before mot test. Easily removed as they are only held in place with Velcro type fastenings. However mine passes every year with them fitted.

Technically I believe only clear and amber are road legal. But I have never had any hassle with dark and light tints fitted on my previous bikes.

I got mine of e bay from China, surprisingly they fit and looked great. There are some on e bay at the moment.

Powerbronze holdings have them advertised on e bay if you want a uk seller.

My fz6 is S2 model, might be different shape on the 2004 though.

FZ6 / Fazer / Re: the good news is , new bike, bad news is no red key
« on: 24 February 2019, 12:15:35 pm »
No way round, you need the red key to code new/replacement black keys.  Sometimes see for sale bikes that are being broken for parts, insurance write off etc,
with full lock set, ecu, all keys inc red one, but still expensive.

I have seen advertised somewhere a company that takes your ecu and programs new keys to it, not cheap and I think they were in Poland !!!!!!!.

Do not lose the one you have got.

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Fender Extender
« on: 24 February 2019, 12:06:29 pm »
One of the first things I do to any bike I buy, fit a fender extenda, always drill them and use M4 stainless steel button head screws and stainless nyloc nuts.
No problems, no rust, and haven't lost one yet. I think the black looks fine on any colour bike myself, you can get carbon effect as well.

I make my own Radiator guards (stone guards) as well, using car radiator grille mesh, different shapes and colours available on e bay.  :)

FZ6 / Fazer / Re: FZ6 Screen
« on: 13 February 2019, 10:23:12 am »
Hello. There is a different screen fitted to the "later" FZ6. My FZ6 was an "S2", the screen is smaller and a totally different shape compared to the earlier FZ6.

69
That's ok, no problem.
Cheers.

Hello. I am in Teesside. I thought my price was a true reflection of what it is worth.  The postage is nearly £10 so I am sorry I cannot do free postage on it.
Cheers.

Hello. Which bolts is it you mean? The front mounting uses the standard footrest bracket bolts with a spacer to fit on the front ones.
The only other bolts are we’re the bracket fits under the grabrail, and on mine they looked like the standard grab rail bolts. There is a bolt each side where the rail bolts to the bracket, shown fitted in the photo’s.I never fitted the rack to the bike originally so not aware of any different bolts required.
Cheers.

72
Hello. I have taken the brackets off my bike, There is also the protectors from under the grab rail, And the spacers for the footrest hanger front bolts.
Photo's below to show everything I have. £65 including postage. Have a look, let me know if your interested. Cheers.   :)

73
Hello. Yes your right there is two other brackets fitted which are under the seat side panels. These are currently still fitted to my bike. I will take them off tomorrow, there is also two spacers which go under the footrest hangers. The protectors under the grab handle I don’t know. I will have look tomorrow and remove what there is and photograph it all for you to view them.
Cheers.
Phil
