FZS600 Fazer / Re: exhaust leak & gasket help
« on: 18 February 2013, 05:29:09 pm »
you can get exhaust pase like gum gum in a tin or in a silicone type gun cartiridge,it goes rock ard tho and can be a pain to remove later if needed,a badgage repiar might work but looks crap imo

hi guys,iv been offered a gsxr 750 'slingshot' air and oil cooled bike at a fair price but have any of you lot had one or know what the problems/expensive repair parts are on these bikes? iv always fancied one but dont want to buy a pill of rubbish or expensive repair bill!

General / Re: locks
« on: 03 February 2013, 07:13:27 am »
the cheapest but best disc lock is a simple good quality padlock(with a pin that will go thru disc hole!) i attach a disc reminder to mine that simply goes from disc to bars to stop you forgetting to unlock before you ride off! as already said te bike could still be lifted into van or similar! a good u lock or good chain and padlock is better (or as well as) and you can get them that will fit under seat or come with a mounting bracket to fit on bike ,try to attach the bike to something if possible

« on: 23 January 2013, 05:32:02 pm »
les i live in hull around 5 miles from ferry if i can help in anyway but you are prob best ring them to discuss your deals,iv been across a few times both as foot passanger and car but never bike, its usually expensive compared to the ferrys down south but they can do good deals if you time it right and depends on where you live and want to go as if its better to go from hull or another ferry

Introduction / Re: Hia! Looking to buy an FZ6 and need some advice!
« on: 23 January 2013, 06:45:58 am »
welcome to the group, the fazer is a cracking bike and does everything realy well from the trip to work to the weekend blast around in summer etc
my other half says the pillion seat and pegs are mega comfy and i like the riding position as its fairly upright so kind on my back!but riding position etc suits some people and not others due to fact were all different sizes and shapes!
theres loads of fazers out there so i sugest you go look at more than 1 if possible, have a sit on it(and your other half)to see if feels good for you,as for tings to look for same with most bikes realy,if its been down road(most bikes have had at least a minor slide at some point)check for damage and bodge repairs, some like the lack of fairing etc but i prefere the fairing and screen as helps on longer rides with wind and rain protection etc
expensive parts like brake discs, chain and sprockets ,tyres etc should be looked at as you dont want to replace them all stright away to add to cost of bike! the fazers suffer a little with sticking rear brake caliper(cheap to repair if you do yourself) they as well as other bikes can suffer from rotting exhaust headers and broken exhaust studs so check these over, obviously look and listen for any strange engine noises, look at oil to make sure no water in it etc
the lower the miles is better but a well looked after higher milage bike is better than a thrashed unlooked after low miles bike!
have fun looking but dont jump at the 1st one you see unless it ticks all your boxes and at right price, dealers are usually more money so id sugest you buy private, look in autotrader etc and if any on ebay near you go check it out before bidding ,this is best time of year to buy a bike but worst to sell so dont expect to get top money for yours at moment
