Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Renthal 758

Get a thread tapped in the end of the Renthals, 16mm at 16 t.p.i, to fit the original bar end weights, which are quite heavy (308 grams) and do a good job.

New front pads turned up today, so got them fitted and changed the fluid. The new pad material(genuine Yamaha) was 5mm thick, so the “old” pads were only half worn after 17k miles, so they’re in the spares cupboard now. Also made an adaptor plate to fit a cheap £10 20 litre backbox , which will be handy for waterproofs, spare gloves etc, in readiness for my Aragon GP trip, leaving on Thursday. Will try and post a few pics along the way, but as there’s nine of us, there might not be much time.

Nice one, just look upon today as a solid investment. As from Thursday I’ll be well out of the grandkids zone as off to Spain for the Aragon GP. Nine days of bikes and beer, what’s not to like :) .

Glad you got your weekend away. A little table is such an essential bit of kit, often overlooked by many, at their peril. After all, spilt beer is a very serious offence, especially after all the cunning planning to get there in the first place. :lol

Strange that Motorex Ethanol Treatment 250ml, is out of stock everywhere I’ve tried. Was going to take some on my Spain trip next week, in case I got lumbered with having to use E10. I believe Sta-bil do a similar product, so will check that out.

That is certainly a very clean one. Well done on tracking that down. Welcome to the forum, and more importantly, enjoy your Fazer. Ride safe :thumbup .

I do, but purely based on Red Ceri’s experience a few years ago. I’m off to France/Spain next week and will be hunting out E5 petrol stations where at all possible. I’ve only used Super in the Fazer since I’ve had it, unless 95 is the only option. I’m aware that Yamaha say E10 should be ok, but don’t want to be the one to find out it’s not.

Well, the new tyres should consider themselves scrubbed in, having had 268 of our lovely English miles put on them today. Did a round trip of four caffs today, starting off with a cuppa at the Chalet, then a whizz down the A272 to the Haven, not far from Salisbury for breakfast, before visiting Choppers Cafe just south of Marlborough. Then, backtracked to Loomies, before an almost perfect rip back up the 272 to Cowfold, before heading north and home. Will have some fresh front pads to fit in a few days, then should be all set for my trip to Spain.

New tyres fitted today in readiness for trip to Spain early in September. Rear didn’t need changing, so that’s in the loft, no doubt to go on the Triumph when that rear wears out. Just thought how much nicer a bike feels when riding on new tyres. By comparing the depth of the new and the partly worn one, the wear rate equated to roughly 1mm/1000 miles, which I’m quite happy with. Gave the chain a small adjust, and the callipers/pistons got a clean and a dab of rubber grease, new pads ordered as fronts were lowish, more for peace of mind than anything else, and not keen on having too much piston exposed from the calliper. Only done 17k miles mind, and Yamaha certainly know how to charge for genuine replacements, but only wanted genuine. If the weather stays fine will be taking a look at Choppers Cafe just south of Marlborough on Monday, so that should get the new rubber scrubbed in.

When you get older you'll learn it's best to have it(selective hearing) cranked up to the max all of the time...just in case :lol

Haven't needed to get older to incorporate selective hearing into everyday life.
It's certainly an acquired skill that many have not quite got the hang of yet. Glad to hear you've got it nailed. :)

Mmmm…head in the sand approach. Methinks you’ll need a better strategy than that. Only a week to go, so you must be on your “A” game. You know it makes sense :lol .

Enjoy the rally :thumbup .......you'd have certainly earned it :lol .

Trust me, I will.......... :guitar :guitar :guitar :lol
Just realised your rally is the Bank Holiday weekend, in two weekends time. I'd keep a very low profile, be invisible even, in the mean time, as I'd hate to see your plans come undone by some last minute plotting by, you know who ;)

Haha lol - it's already started..........
Noooo :eek ..........I knew it.

Nice to see the Yellow Peril out doing what it does best :thumbup . The old Foccer salute has caught me out twice in the past, as I usually just give oncoming bikes a nod without concentrating too much on what model they are :lol .

Weather this last week had been so up and down, that it was difficult to arrange a day out with the “retired crew”. The bikes throttle cables got a good lubing earlier in the week, together with a change of plugs and a carb balance. After doing the business with the Carbtune Pro, everything was hunky dory.

Thursday was the best day for everyone, but as it transpired, not the best for the weather, as fine rain started falling as we left our meeting place. This was certainly not on the weather forecast. Our lunchtime destination was the Winchelsea Beach Cafe, strangely enough, in Winchelsea. A lap of the better biking roads in Sussex got us to our lunch stop, just in time for more rain. With only outside seating, it was quite difficult cramming the four of us around the only patio table that had a parasol. The bacon bap was certainly nothing to write home about, so won’t be in a tearing hurry for a revisit.

At least the rain had stopped, with the sun struggling to put in an appearance as we left. Backtracking to Rye and onwards towards Kent, with Brenzett, Appledore and Tenterden flying by, on our way to a shandy or two at a pub near, what used to be, the Oakdene. With drinks ordered it was time to lap up the now perfect sunshine and chill out for a while. The damp squib start to the day, ended in perfect sunshine, with yet another 178 of our lovely English miles clicked up on the Fazers trip meter.

« on: 14 August 2021, 02:54:04 pm »
Just ordered the new battery on the TAYNA website, lots to choose from with prices starting at £25.99. i paid £86.93 for the YUASA ,most expensive battery on the list, They list the motobatt for £54.99 so hopefully paying a bit more will result in a longer life. Lots of good feedback on the site including speedy delivery so lets see how quick speedy is, be good to get out on the bike this weekend...
Hi Mr.Red, hope you enjoyed your whizz out to Choppers today on the big one. I was going to recommend Eurobatt, down in Plymouth. I bought my Yuasa YT14B-BS from them almost a year ago when my reg/rec let me down. Then it was £64.95 delivered within 24hrs. Checked their site the other day and the price is very similar to what you’ve paid, so a big price hike within a year.

Velkommen Robert,
That certainly is a mighty clean Fazer you've managed to find. They're certainly getting harder to find that clean in the UK for sure. Enjoy it, and ride safe. :thumbup

Haha lol and I never leave it in the same place twice either  :rollin :rollin

Or if you do, use a decoy with a cryptic note inside :lol

Hadn't thought of that - might get hold of two diary's for next year!
Collins 2022 diary range is out now. Couldn't find a 2 for 1 deal for you though. :)

I tend to go for "day to a page" A5 diaries - makes me look busier  :lol :lol
Haha, and plenty of space if you get bored to do some “colouring in” :lol .

Didn’t have a compatible rubber insert in order to use my Doherty hydraulic cable oiler, but did have an almost perfectly fitting small funnel, which with some gaffa tape and a zip tie, sealed a treat. Gravity did it’s job, and in no time at all Motuls finest had lubed the cables.
Thanks for all the advice and suggestions, it’s what makes this forum No.1. :thumbup
