 No.
Changing just the clutch plates won’t make it any lighter.

They look like the seals that go between the two calliper halves. But isn’t the Fazer 1000 a solid calliper? So aren’t needed.

Have you got the correct repair kit?

Sad day indeed.

For sale and wanted section of this forum is a good place to start.
Plenty of information about the bike, some photos and the price your asking.
Good luck.

That’s sad news indeed.

A good place to advertise the bike for sale is on this forum in the For Sale section.
Give a good description and some photos of the bike, don’t forget to mention the price your asking for it.
Good luck.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: value clearance check at 25000
« on: 08 August 2021, 01:10:03 pm »
Hello. Everybody will have their own opinions on wether you should check the valve clearances or not.

At 25000 mine where all in specification, no adjustments required. I think most people get this result at that mileage. Other foccers will confirm if this is the case.

Waiting an extra 1000 miles before you check them in my opinion won’t be a problem.

Understandably your mechanic may be non commital, he hasn’t got a crystal  ball, he won’t want the comeback on him if anything should go wrong.

+1 with Trebus. You could also try to tap a Torx into it if you have one that’s larger than the 5mm Allen key.

My mate has a Honda CB500X. His words not mine “It’s as flat as a fart”

Test ride one first if you can, especially if your coming down from a Fazer 1000.

Pump the lever a few times to build up the pressure, then tie it back to the throttle grip and leave it overnight. See what it’s like after that. Might not work, but worth a try.

OEM for me every time on my bikes. Usually a bit more expensive but worth it, in my opinion.

Ideal time to push the forks back down through the yokes while you have the front wheel out for new tyre fitment.

14
MINTH on the front disc is for “ minimum thickness”
It is not a manufacturers name.

butthead.
Here are some photos of my span adjustable Pazzo levers.

There are a lot of bikes with cable operated clutches that have span adjustable levers fitted as standard, so you should have no worries changing yours from unadjustable ones.

Sorry they are upside down, they were the other way up on my computer screen, doh!

Hello butthead.

On my fzs600 foxeye 2002, I had Pazzo levers fitted, which had span adjusters on both brake and clutch levers, I never encountered any problems with clutch actuation. I also had these levers fitted to my fzs1000 with no problems.

I removed these levers when I sold the bike, so they should be in my garage somewhere. If you are interested I could dig them out and send details and photos of them.

It does not need to be genuine Yamaha.

If you take the old one to your local car motor factors, or bike shop they will have a box full of assorted sizes of crush washers, suitable for sump plugs.
By the time you get back home with your new washer the sump will have drained nicely, ready for its new oil n filter.

Good luck with your recovery.   :thumbup

Yes the front brake lever pivot pin, often neglected during preventive maintenance lubrication regimes.

Check the front brake lever pivot point, remove the bolt, clean everything, grease up, refit. Worth a try.

Cobra brake lines from Wezmoto, made by Hel, good quality hoses, stainless fittings and banjo bolts. Choice of colours.
I used them on my Fazer. I also fitted stainless bleed nipples.

Been there done that. Telescopic magnet is your friend here. That worked for me. Couple of quid on E bay. Lot cheaper than a gasket set. Good luck. Let us know how you get on.
