just enquiring if anyone has one of these installed, Would like to remove that pesky limit on the first gear. and also see if it removes the "run like crap mode" when removing the speedo drive as i have done. (although it is barley noticeable)Problem is.. i have removed the speedo drive and most of the pictures i have seen on the net show the deice going in between the drive and the loom, but others go between the ecu and the loom, which one is used for the fazer? Thanks,

1st gear limit?

1st gear limit?
Rev limiter
-
Why do you want to remove the 13.5k limiter?
-
I'm not clear on how the Nikko G-pack works, but was under the impression that it alters the fueling map... which would require a fuel injection system in place of the carbs. But if it only alters ignition timing it won't know what the engine revs are if it's meant to be connected between the (missing) speedo sensor and the ignition circuit.
-
Not sure whats what with the pack, id like to have it just to at least see if it gets rid of the midrange problems.
And it may be that i have no speedo hooked up that i have such a low limit in first? I'm not sure what it is at, but its definitely there, and annoying.
EDIT: NOT FIRST, SECOND GEAR

Fuelling map on the carbs?

Alters the Retard/Advance.

mmm, really?

Apparently. Similar thing with the old Gsxr's, forces the ecu to think the bike is at a certain speed. Rather than think its doing the speed it is doing, Or 0mph all the time.(in my case)
Raises the rev limit to 12k on second and third too. although its probably not wise to go that high)

What rev limiter? I'm sure I've had mine past 12k in 1st-3rd... :look

Who knows, I'll check later.. then repost.
Hope to god i don't have a restricted ecu or something.. :(

I'm going to check tonight!

I'm going to check tonight!
Please do, Hope my ecu isn't cooked or something. If you hit a limiter, tell me the revs
-
Mine definitely revs up to past 12k in 1st-3rd - don't think I've quite gotten there in 4th or higher as I ran out of "runway" / "drag strip" ;)

I'll check mine now, give me 10 mins

Its a carburated engine, there is no ecu.

How does the rev limiter work? Is it off the clocks?

yadda yadda, ecu, cdi.. Whatever.
Just took the bike out and cant get past 10.8 which i suppose is high enough but certainly still annoying when canning it in low gears, As far as i know it was like this before i swapped the engine and switched to r1 front end
-
I see... kinda.
I must admit I've never noticed a lower rev limit in first or second (or neutral, come to that), but the speedo sender does feed the ignitor unit as well as the speedometer itself and I can't think of any other reason for it to do so… there's no ram air system that might justify modifying the advance for example.
If this (http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorcycle/fuel-management/bike/yamaha/1998/fzs600-fazer/nikko-g-pack-de-restriction-modules) is the device then it looks as if it requires the speedo sender to be in place anyway (presumably doubles the frequency of the pulses or something) this will make any speedometer read wrong which would be why they say it's not for road use.
-
Make sure your airfilter is OK and that nothing else is restricting the airflow?
With this really hot n humid air at the mo you could just be suffercating the engine?
Maybe?
Just a thought
-
Or it has different gearing maybe, would that do it?
-
Nah, its all related to not having the speedo sensor fitted as someone else had mentioned in other posts.
With regards to the g-pack I've read nothing but complaints about them, apparently its just a resistor inside a box which obviously sends a false signal of some description!

Just tried mine 13500rpm in 3rd limiter chimes in ( just shy of 120mph)
i used my drive way to test the speed revs etc :lol :lol

Really, that means it takes 3 more gears to cover the last 20 odd mph.
-
My R1 would do 86 mph in first so more 5 gears to get another 100 mph on the speedo , so yes really.

Or bottle?

Not really, 13500 in 6th is around 170mph, you just won't get there :)
-
Mine definitely revs past 13k :lol

It was more of a surprised statement rather than disbelief. :o

Nope, just haven't felt the need and there are very few long, straight, unoccupied (or at least quiet) "runways" near me :(
Mind you, there was this one nice "runway" which had a good downhill section and it was very wide and the bike got up passed 130mph for the first time (its a dog and still doesn't run perfectly) - I think it had signs mentioning something like "M40", whatever that is 8)

Whoops :b
In any case, it is quite odd that fazers are geared so high imo
-
Would you prefer to be doing 12k rpm at 80mph? :D
