So where have you mounted yours?
For the last 11 years mine has been in a tax disc holder mounted on the exhaust can bracket, bit of a pain every year to unscrew all the little bolts but safe enough and no one has ever nicked it.
Just spent an hour in the garage trying to find somewhere to mount the tax disc holder on the FZ1 - can't find anywhere!
-
I think it's technically meant to live on the left side of the bike, just off the front wheel. On the 600, it bolts on at the brake line guide.
-
Yeah, that's where the cheapo shop tax disc holder has been mounted but I think it's a bit wrong to stick it on a a suspended part of the bike, hence I mounted it on the can bolt on the 600.
-
Should be on the left front of the bike if you take the law by the letter. Although anywhere on the left of the bike is generally accepted. I have mine in a tax disc holder on one of the bolts for the rear hugger. Think it looks silly at the front but at the back it's a bit more out of the way but still clearly visable.

Have mine in a cylinder holder bolted to the gen 1 rad guard. Front left.
-
Mine is off of the front left brake line guide as it should be :) Never found it to be an issue
-
mines on the front left, as it came out of the shop. never had a problem.
-
Got my fz1 tax on the exhaust bracket, and the fazer 600 on a chainguard bolt.
And as for plod, as long as its on there, they shouldn't bother you whichever side its on.

in my pocket

In a plastic bag under my seat, it's been there for about 7 years and I've never had any problems. Doing a Bikesafe course soon, so will see if anything is said about it then.

Since failure to display attracts a £60 fine, keeping the tax disc in your pocket or under the seat is a risky business. It'd be a harsh copper who issued a fixed penalty notice, but they exist, particularly if you've attracted attention through a breach of speed limits, for example.
I display mine on the screen, though if I had to park in less secure areas I'd use a decent colour photocopy and keep the original in my wallet.
-
Mine's in a holder bolted to a bracket on the swingarm.
-
Mine's in a flat holder on the chain side bolted thru with the hugger.
-
The photocopy thing is a damned good idea, as long as you keep the original on you or under your seat. If you don't, it could male life s bit uncomfortable if stopped by an enthusiastic traffic cop.

That's what I do. Once in the tax disc holder you cannot tell. I keep original in a waterproof bag under the seat.

Not displayed one for years, never had a problem
