Has anyone ever used and air compressor with the paint sprayer to emulsion the walls? I seem to remember the Kirby vacuum cleaner having an attachment to do the same thing so must be feasible

Yes, one piece of advice. Buy lots of pairs of disposable overalls, you'll get as much paint on you as the walls.....

lol naked spraying ;) Does it give a good finish. I'm thinking of doing my stairway which has very high wall so thinking spraying would be easier

It gave a reasonable finish but this was on the stone walls on a 600 year old farmhouse in the south of France that had been empty for 6 years. All we wanted to do was to seal the walls and get rid of the spiders and cobwebs. Blasted it with a pressure washer one day, left it to dry out and then sprayed it with white paint. Did the job far quicker than using a brush and got the paint in all the little nooks and crannies but as it was onto stone the finish wasn't really important.

Thge communal hall of flats I used to live in was done a few years back. A good job. Walls were painted brick. They used white and did the whole lot in a day. A good thick paint, finish looked good. As with anything skill of the operator is key to avoid the runs.

I could see on french stone walls, and brick - perfect, but for plaster I have had a try but perhaps it was a crap diy system but as well as spray I got "spits" and you have to thin it down so much you have to do it loads of times, could be down to crap sprayer. And then there is all the cleaning up wheras I just throw the roller, I have done a lot of painting and found the best way is a normal roller which if left will give a slight texture which I do not like so while it is still wet I go over it with a foam gloss roller without loading it with paint and that flatens the first rollers textue. You need to work fast, floor to ceiling and feather off each strip that you have done and then 2 or 3 coats. For the wall to ceiling join where the roller would otherwise touch the ceiling I use a brush and then flatten that off with a smaller mini foam roller.
Im not a painter but ive done a lot like that and it gives a perfect flat finnish, like you would expect from a sprayer.
My choice of paint is always a satin - not silk or matt.
And would avoid painting in this weather as it drys so fast you canot feather it and you can see the overlaps

Nothing I suppose. Although even with it being a 12 incher it's not exactly boys toy ;)
Good point about the heat Fazersharp, although glossing is best done now surely as the heat thins the paint.

I've never found any fun in any form of painting and decorating in the house :b .
Wish I could find some fun in it because most of the house wants doing and I'm to tight to pay someone to do it :( .

If you look at the documentary above I think you'll see beyond doubt that Mr Bean has proven it to be a sound method of interior decoration.
