Rode them back to back today and there's no doubt the MT10 feels faster. It pulls harder lower down the rev range and between 6-7K revs it feels like a tuned two stroke hitting its power band.
On paper it's more powerful and lighter so it should do, but.......This is what happened the other day.......
With me riding the Fazer I came up behind my brother on the MT10 ....And we both pinned it from about 30 MPH
The Fazer monster'd it
Now, the thing is, I've been riding the Fazer for 5 years and know how to get the most out of it.
The MT will just wheelie off the throttle in the first 3 gears which if you're not prepared for it will see you backing off, so to truly launch it you have to get your weight over the front.
My brother reckons he was pinning it and was playing catch up but from my experience even a 600 can tear off leaving a thou playing catch up if it gets the jump on it which is why I think this was inconclusive and a dedicated comparison is needed.
I agree with the comment though about the Fazer having a greater top speed but for sheer fun factor the MT10 not only wipes the floor with it but also the new R1 as you can see from the picture, there's no doubt who's got the biggest grin.
