expensive but excellent. A little goes a long way-Does what it says on tin!
WD40 a lot cheaper does the same job or Scottoil F365. being a pensioner (well nearly) Petroleum jelly or Vaseline was always a good bet. At the end of the day it is all about weather proofing metals against the elements. A lot of products out there calling themselves corrosive inhibitors, it is all down to prepared surface and application plus retreatment as and when required. Lew

Just going to check flight availability for this weekend 
having a peak at the said bike , but sadly the reason for the trip is to visit my mate who is in a poor state of health. looking at the said bike will help lift my spirits some what. But looking at the photo's it looks just fantastic but bloody expensive for the year, we will see as if it is a keeper what the hell, now just have to convince her that has to be obeyed.

My usual quick blast around the mountain roads , Benissa, >Parcent,>Taberna>Callosa,.Guadelest>Confrides>Castells de Castelles>Jalon> Benissa. It is getting a bit cooler now and will have to ditch then summer gloves. That lot totals 167 kms just over 2&1/2 hour ride out. Full of twists and hairpin bends. I just love my new tyres fitted last week, Conti Road Attacks amazing grip. I had the Yips a few weeks back but changing the tyres has got me back to a comfort zone again.

Much as I love gen 1s Lew, is weight going to be an issue? As Joe says, the gen 1 is definitely the better touring bike, but is fairly heavy in it's own right, before you go loading it up with gear. Although having said that, I have a dodgy shoulder and arm and manage ok. Gen 2 for a lighter, easier to handle bike I would say. You can put hard luggage on the 2 I believe, but the seat won't be as comfortable as the 1 either. Usual thing, find one of each that you can test ride.
Hi Nick checked out on google and it is giving the FZS at 208kgs and the FZ1 at 199kgs do not know if those are dry weights. My SX was 228kgs and with the top box and panniers likely getting up to the 245kgs. That was getting to be a concern when on an incline say at a road junction. The FZ6 is coming in at 190kgs I think but can move that around okay. I love the wee fazer but to be honest with me being a big lad(fat git) I really would like to get back onto a 1000cc bike again. At the risk of being labelled an idiot can some one explain the main differences between the FZS and the FZ1. Would an FZS be better suited for an older rider, as in this old fart!! Would the riding position be kinder than the FZ1.
I currently have an FZ6 N S2 which is fun. I recently came from 1000cc bike (Z1000SX) and to be honest I am missing the extra grunt. I was wondering if the riding position on a Gen 1 FZS would be more comfortable than either the FZ1 or the FZ6. Am I right in saying that both the big boys are under 200kgs in weight?

Just curious, as I am going over to Ireland next week and there is a real beautiful looking FZS there I will be having a look at, I have read the comments on the lads post and yes it is expensive but if it is quality could be tempted, any advice would be appreciated, not about the bike I am going to look at but which one would be better suited for (A) my old bones, (2) I thought my touring days were behind me but still have the bug.

Went to the Valencia moto gp, great atmosphere, 100,000+ Spaniards in full voice, racing like watching paint dry, it looks much better on TV. Would rather been at a local Irish road race much more fun from a spectators point of view as in metres away from the action, not lioke the 100 metres we were today and we had decent seats.

well got out for a good run today took it steady for the first 50 miles as the bike did feel completely different than when on the BT020's Slowly gained confidence and started flicking the bike around. Covered 120 miles and well what a difference just did not want to go home fun day. All set for the run up to Valencia moto gp this weekend. Think I have made a good choice of tyre here, will have to wait and see how long they last on these Spanish roads. Lew

Were I live in Spain cyclists are a fecking nuisance they ride four abreast at times and think they are untouchable. The thing that really pisses me of about cyclists is they think a red light does not apply to them.
Also how many of them carry any kind of insurance, my mate got knocked of his bike , that Honda jazz engine thing 700 SC is it, £1900 damage plus he had to miss two days work. Cyclists fault he cut between two cars, sorry mate did not see you. Was advised if he took him to court he would win his case but to actually get anything out of the cyclist would prove to be very difficult.
Really is time they were forced to carry insurance and it should be like a tax disc , clearly displayed.

Antrim coast road from Larne all the way to Ballycastle, or up over Torr head, for spectacular scenery. Head for Dundrod for a blast round the UGP road circuit, quick two laps round there and get the hell out of there quick before the police arrive.
Run over the Denbigh moors road and drop down onto the A5 to Betwys Coed . A5 to the A491 through Ruthin heading for the Ponderosa and the Horseshoe pass down into Llangaollen

Same engine just a better all round bike not perfect but bloody close, the seat is absolutely crap when they are marketing the bike as a sports tourer. Fuel consumption is as good as an FZ1 if not slightly better, like everything it is all down to the right wrist. Range for a 19ltr tank can be 135 miles ringing the neck out of it or best I achieved was 210miles just enjoying the French countryside, My TOM TOM proved to be a lying bastard telling me there was a station just down the road, Sunday in France is not a day to run low on fuel. Stopped in a village at a café and the owner of the local station opened up for me, 18.82 ltrs she took, squeaky bum time. Having said that I was out on a run on Sunday and the guy that bought my old SX was with us, trying to keep up with the group mostly 1000cc bikes when we all fuelled up again I put in €1.00 more than the guy on my SX and I am on a FZ6 S2.

Aye! but you will need to be good the Kwack has traction control , the suspension can be tweaked in seconds and even my old SX could run with my mates FZ1 and I am a fat bastard lol. The new SX is some machine, old one was not so bad either. I think Yam have the problem with , how do you make a near perfect bike better !!! they are going to have to up there game some what.

Why did Yamaha not get a mention, I know when the SX MK1 came out the FZ1 was used as the bench mark as a one on one test but not this time round. Kawasaki are now dominating this area of the market. I had a Z1000SX for nearly 3 years and can honestly say it was the most fun bike I ever owned, the 2014 model will take some beating, I still think the FZ1 performance wise would give the SX a run for it's money but ??? have Yamaha anything going today that is not old hat, not knocking the FZ1 but she is an aging beauty. As a past CBF owner I posted this on there forum as well, I knew it would really wind them up especially the comment about rides like a Big Scooter, Oh the outrage from some on there Lew

Just to lighten the mood a bit.

The RNLI has said “Thank fuck for that. As a role model for women, if she’d just give up driving as well, the breakdown services would be equally happy”.
Today's the 150th anniversary of our local RNLI. This calls for a big celebration.
