Took her up to Greenwich Park and cleaned and polished her before doing a two hour ride around SE London until my fingers started to get numb in what were described as 'thermal waterproof  gloves.' No doubt when they get wet they'll turn out to not be waterproof, either.

I use an Oxford Aquatex and it's the bollocks. Comes with the under the belly-pan strap that locks and even in the gales it was never going to blow off. Very happy with it. £25.

Glad I check on this as I was just about to start a thread. I just got some Scotoiler anti-corrosion spray. Where is the best place to spray it (on plastic?) and when? Should I wash the bike first?

Rode around A40/M40 land getting wet and then headed back into London. No problem with the bike which had tons of grunt just problems with my so-called waterproof jacket and rubbish 'Winter' gloves.Good job I've ordered new ones. 8)

mmmmmmmmm...m40 means your coming my way....jct 4 high wycombe take the 2nd exit down to marlow onto henly then wallingford right to dorchester stopping at "h"s cafe (bikers cafe) left upto abbingdon and parhaps into oxford,a great city.....a40 back via headington, testworth, postcome,up the twisty hill to stokenchurch (take care it can catch you out  :eek ) high wycombe, beconsfield, gerrards cross and back on the m40....all nice roads,as already said, wrap up warm........enjoy your ride wherever you end up  :D

Bugger, bugger! Left home before this was posted and ended up over at Burnham after stopping at the Beaconsfield services to dry out! Left the services and took the next right down the twisty lanes and somehow ended up in Slough, think I might have passed Cliveden! After another drenching I made my way along the A4 and back into London.Tons of traffic but a great ride out if you don't mind hailstones and lashing rain on an open face helmet with balaclava  8) One positive is that I know for definite that my textile jacket is not waterproof!

Red98 - Cheers, that sounds like a good route, I might head over that way during the week.

Went to work on it and got it wet eek on the way home. Had to spend half an hour drying it off before I put it to bed.

Careful there, can't be getting wet!

I'm out on the Fazer tomorrow from London, I've got all day to ride and I'd like to do a bit of A and B-road riding once I'm clear of the M40. So where do you recommend I go?

FZS600 Fazer / Re: True Average Mileage
« on: 05 November 2013, 08:44:39 pm »
Sorry, people but can I slightly modify this question and ask - What's the fuel capacity of a Fazer tank and how many miles would you expect to get from a tank, litres/gallons? (4.5 litres=1 gallon)

Draper Expert range of spanners brillent value for money, very good quality and will take some umph, forget their more diy ranges.  Same goes for their socket sets

Set your bench mark there,  ;) , get more expensive if you want but these won't let you down

I've got a lot of tools but not a proper combi spanner set.
These look exactly like what I'm after. I'll also double up on the 10,13 and 17mm as recommended. Thanks a lot.

FZS600 Fazer / Buying a Combi Spanner set for the My 99 Fazer...
« on: 17 October 2013, 09:16:08 am »
Greetings people.Looked on the search but couldn't find anything specific.

What would be the range of such a combi-spanner set to tackle most tasks on the Fazer and which spanners is it worth doubling up on?

Kawasutra, welcome! Get working on those pipes and shine that baby up until she sparkles. Lovely looking bike. Next to black I'm in favour of red.

Cheers for the help guys, much appreciated. Hopefully taking a look at that cb750 tomorrow, photos look promising, and with a bit if luck it'll be a gem :D

Pity. That Kwakkers sure looks purdy.

Unfortunately, because I was often riding a YBR125 before my Fazer I would spend my time being ultra critical of faster bikes and their riders: 'look at him, he's not riding that properly'; 'fuck sake, why's he going to slow/fast?' 'Didn't he notice the white line and box for cycles? What a twat!'. Jealousy of a faster bike is a very sad state of affairs  :o
