Im quite sure the Fazer holds its own. According to MCN;

Fazer 600 (01) = 95bhp , 61lb torque, 189kg
ZX6R (99)= 106bhp, 48lb torque, 176kg

So (figures are basically a guide) the Fazer has 11bhp less, 13lb more torque, and is 13kg heavier. ZX6R rider probably 1.5 stone heavier than me, but we are both experienced. I don't know the difference in gearing but the ZX6R is much faster top speed which is undoubtedly helped by aerodynamics. So in a drag race to 130 (it seems a fazer is close to vmax) its quite believable that they match (virtually)

I also have a Firestorm, obviously different again. So a drag race in 4th from 60mph, Im quite sure the VTR will leave the Fazer for dead. But in a drag to 130? Not sure.

Its not a scientific experiment, but its a fair comparison (ZX6R v Fazer) just as an indication of the Fazers ability. Underrated  :)

Would be most excellent to have a 0 - 130 day out on a nice Airfield sometime  :)  All types welcome  :)

So plainly a test carried out on private roads/airfield, from 0 to 130mph, who's your money on?

It seemed strange to me that with 95 bhp the Fazer isn't listed as having a higher top speed but on reflection a great deal is down to aerodynamics.

2 riders, both experienced quick riders, 0 to 130, Fazer v ZX6R?

No difference!

Yep very happy with Fazer and I don't get a bad back hunched over the front wheel like on a ZX6R. Repeated test, same again, wheelies in 1st and 2nd and 130 was as quick as my test required, but both bikes were up for more!

I've just finished doing this to my bike. It was too good a deal to turn down, I bought the bike, 99 boxeye,  for £600, sold the headlight for £75, fairing for £180, indicators for £30, double bubble screen for £30 and handlebars for £20. I hate bikes with fairings, always disliked the way everything always points straight ahead even when your turning ! Anyway I then bought a set of renthal bars £30, a new 7" lc type headlight £40, renthal grips £10, mini indicators £15, xenon headlight bulb £5, bar clamps £20. New clamps are needed the way I did it because I needed the bolts to be extra long to attach the new bracket that the clocks bolt to.
The bracket/plate was made from 3mm ally plate, I drew around the clocks to give me the shape, cut it out with a hacksaw, eventually, then marked where the ignition barrel was and where the clamp bolts were and then cut and drilled to make it fit. It's hard to explain and was a lot of trial and error. The plate was then bent so that the clocks faced the rider. There is a 10mm gap between the plate and the back of the clocks and a solution was found in .."................gutter gaskets !, the rubber strips that seal gutter brackets were a perfect fit, they look like they were designed for the job and are held in place with a few blobs of superglue.
The result is excellent if I do say so myself and I now have a bike that points where it's going.
I will post pictures if I can work out how.

This sounds just what Im after, pics would be great. Is there no gallery on the site?
I did similar with my hornet, tbh making the clocks fit in was the hardest bit. Selling parts on would help but Im more inclined to keep jic I resold, then the buyer would have both options. Im 100% with you on the fairing pointing straight ahead when you turn!

FZS600 Fazer / Going naked?
« on: 09 May 2014, 07:48:10 am »
Just wondering if anyone has tips coverting a fazer to naked/streetfighter type bike.
Did this to my 53 reg 600 hornet but adapting clocks etc was a bit tricky. Would like to do on a budget if poss.

Anyone used the nose cone/headlight units available in great variety on ebay?

Thanks!

For Sale & Wanted / Fazer Bagster cover and Bag grey/silver/ SOLD
« on: 07 May 2014, 03:00:33 pm »
I have a BAGSTER tank cover and bag in silver/grey. It looks like leather but I cant find a label to confirm. Its used but perfectly functional. Not sure how many litres the bag is, but it holds loads!

Clear pocket on top for maps, and the bag is expandable.

Located near Chester, Cheshire.

£65 for both collection preferred. Im not sure how much post would be ,will ask the wife to pack and cost in due course if required

Thanks for looking. I have a couple of other pics if required
