I bought a Fireblade of these guys earlier in the year unseen till it arrived in the back of a van in my back yard . The damage to the bike was well photographed and the bike was just what I'd expected, so I'd dismiss the neg feedback, they were easy to deal with and i thought i got excellent value for money.   A bit of welding to the frame (shock horror) and some cheap  ebay plastic and I've a great track day tool . I'll be buy another bike from them without any worries.

General / Re: DIY Tyre Replacement - Use rim sealer?
« on: 02 September 2014, 04:27:52 pm »
  Hi

I fit all my own tyre's and i'm with Northwestern its a 10min job on a lose wheel  and  its easy once you have done a few it's also  cheaper, just  be careful with long  tyre  levers you can easily bend your rim mine are about 8"long  (the wife thinks they are a 12" :lol ). You should not need excessive force just make sure the tyre is in the bottom of the rim and well lubricated also put your new tyre somewhere warm for a hour or two  before you fit it if it's a nice sunny day I put mine in the car , work away at it gently if you are having to apply some serious leverage  you can bet the opposite side of the tyre is not in the bottom of the rim hope you can make sense of this, have fun paul

Thanks for the information my plan(now maybe back on due to your info  ) is to tour Turkey and Iran in 2015 if all goes to plan, so ferry crossings shouldn't be a problem. My aim if possible would be to get down onto the Persian gulf then a big loop back  round the black sea. Wars civil unrest permitting   The figure I was quoted for a carnet was 5 or 6 times more than you paid I'll get on to the aa after the hols. Insurance green card I found impossible to get with any of the usual insurance company's in UK  for Morocco,  so we bought insurance at a rip of price at the border in the end. I think it was bennets that I had a young lass tell me I was covered with  their policy for Monaco no Morocco I sez, yes that's right Monaco int it same ? I gave up then lol.  nice to know the Iranians take after the Moroccans  for stopping you on your travels we had speed trap and check points at just about every town we passed through all very friendly but a pain in the arse every 20 miles

hi Matt   You've been to Iran good for you , most all the reading I've done on Iran  says you need a  carnet de passage to get your bike in but other say not .Did you buy/need one, if so how/were  did you  did you get it,  and  and how much did it cost you( if you don't mine me being so nosey )all the research I've done it came out as ridiculously expensive so putting the mockers on the trip . all so any info on insurance would be great cheers paul

We  went last week in August 2013  an most of September and the weather was fantastic, warm but not silly hot only a couple of wet days all holiday .Also the summer rush is over and lots of vacancies available in b&bs, but if your camping geting a last minute  pitch  shouldn't be a problem even in high season
your idea of not booking anything in advance is I think the best move . I wish I'd done that we had booked a few places in advance for the first 10-12 days, and it put a bit of pressure  on us to be at a certain point at a certain date. The the rest of the holiday was  done on the fly and it was a great feeling to sit and have a beer in the evening and decide what to do tomorrow shall we ride 200 miles or have a shed load of beer an lig on beach all day  easy decision some days.

 Hi

last year we did 4500+miles across Europe in a little over a month on the trusty 04 Fazer  ,starting out in Rotterdam  then down to the  Dolomites  across France &  Spain into Morocco (no sat nav help in Morc  but they only have 10 roads so its  back to a map )  then  back up through Spain to Bilbao   . I bought one of the cheapo Chinese sat navs of eBay for about£30 . We used   lots of back roads and  it didn't miss a turn.also took a small note book computer loaded with auto route ,bike manuals, insurance an all sorts of other junk it was very handy for  booking hotel rooms at sort notice I'd recommend booking .com   got some really good deals with them

Serial Drink driver nearly kills biker is spared jail.  Spared jail: Serial drink-driver who left biker for dead in crash horror

Thomas Scully leaving Manchester Magistrates Court
 By Paul Britton
 11 Mar 2013 07:21
A serial drink-driver was spared jail after he smashed his car into a teenager and left him for dead in a road.

Thomas Scully, 63, who was more than twice the legal limit, had spent four hours drinking in a pub in Openshaw when he decided to drive home.

Scully had two previous convictions for drink-driving when he crashed into 17-year-old biker Michael Daniels on Ashton Old Road, Openshaw.

But magistrates decided not to send him to prison and instead imposed a suspended sentence.

They heard that Michael was riding a Yamaha 125 bike wearing a helmet, protective clothing and a high-visibility vest during the horror collision in January.

Scully turned right directly into his path, Manchester magistrates’ court was told. Michael was rushed to hospital and almost died when his heart stopped beating during a six-hour operation.

The teenager suffered a broken shoulder and thigh bone and spent two nights in an induced coma, but is now recovering well at home.

Scully, a construction company worker from Halliday Road, Newton Heath, drove off at speed in his VW Bora but was arrested after a witness who saw the crash followed him for more than a mile and managed to remove the keys from the ignition.

The court heard Scully pulled over believing the witness was a police officer.

He pleaded guilty to drink-driving, failing to stop at the scene of an accident and driving without due care and attention.

Scully’s two previous drink-drive convictions were in the 1990s.

He was given a suspended jail sentence of 18 weeks, suspended for 12 months, and banned from the road for two years. Scully was also ordered to complete more than 250 hours of community service by magistrates who said the case was one of the worst with which they had dealt.

Barbara Amuzu, chairwoman of the bench, said: “The young man could have died.”

Richard Andrew, spokesman for the road safety charity Brake said: “Drink-driving is incredibly dangerous and selfish behaviour which shows no concern for the law or for the safety of other road users, and can have devastating consequences.

“Tough sentences are needed where drivers show a reckless disregard for the lives of others. Brake encourages judges and the courts to use the full range of powers available to them for those who flout the law, in order to provide an active deterrent to other drivers from taking such enormous risks.”

just my 2p s worth here but be careful with titanium it very prone to galling (cheap titanium even more so ) you need to give it a good coat of a anti-seize compound on assembly .
I personally just replace the bolts with good quality steel  cap heads every time I lube the valve, every  year and I've never had a snapped one yet :rolleyes

My main worry is getting  through customs I've heard it can take hours, I'm thinking of getting a early ferry don't really want to be stuck in Tangier overnight the ideal plan would be to get to Fez on the 1st day about 150 miles what thinks you ?

yep i know but we are taking 5 weeks to do it in.
I've worked out a rough total of about 4500 miles which over that time is not that big a deal
