So I'm planning on buying myself a new bike in a couple of years, but I have to save up some money first.
Meanwhile I want to get the most out of my Fazer since I'll be driving it a lot more.
I'm doing the routine maintenance as I should.
I have also upgraded the lights and the rear brake.
Trying to figure out a saving plan while keeping my chin up and having fun with the Fazer.
What other things can I do to improve the ride from cheap to expensive?

R6 rear shock, balance the carbs, read A Twist of the Wrist and work on getting faster/smoother etc.

Have you thought about braided hoses as a cheap but effective upgrade ?

Brake hoses
Yes I have considered them. But actually after upgrading the pads in the front to some SBS sinter pads the brakes are very nice. Don't feel that's the thing holding the bike back.
Suspension
I measured the sag in the suspension today and adjusted the front preload one notch (to 5) for a bit harder front setup, the sag was in the upper limit. The bike feels more responsive and easier to turn in.
The rear is already at the 4th notch from the right (I think that's #6?) and the sag is within specs.
It's the rear that really bothers me. It seems the cheapest option is to look for a R6 13S rear shock and some dog bones. Second would be Hagons, then Nitron, then Hagon with adjuster, then Hagon with Adjust. And in the top range would be Ohlins.
Opinions?
Tires
Fitted Pilot Road 3 tires. Love them and feel comfortable and confident on the wet.

All of these will keep it interesting
Carbs are balanced. Will check up on A Twist of the Wrist. It's a good point to become a better driver, not just a better bike! At this point it's probably not the bike holding me "back" as much as my mentalitiy. I've seen some pretty amazing lean angles from some foccers :D

Hagons (front and back) are a relatively cheap option. Transformed mine.

After reading all of the information on the forum I'm going the route of the R6 shock. Found an OK deal for a shock here in Norway.
I have access to steel and aluminium CNC machines, so this will def be the cheapest option.
Only going to need an extra faulkner spring.
Also.
Perhaps some Hagon for the front. Not too bad from wemoto.

Just saw the multi gauge upgrade in another thread.
Perhaps this is a cost efficient way to elevate the FZS600.

I fear this might not be the ideal way to get the best out of your Fazer :lol

If the mt is 10/10, then the fazer is 9/10. Both are bloody brilliant.
Fazer is so so so much more frugal 😁

A little update:
I still got both bikes, and I commute with my Fazer and use the MT for nice weather and longer trips.
Fazer is still so much easier in and around town, lower point of gravity, flickable and nimble.
The MT is actually around the same weight/size as the Fazer but it has a much wider turn radius and a higher center of gravity, so you feel the weight much more.
MT-10 is a torque monster, it just goes so fast; fast. So you don't really get to think before you're far above the legal speed limit. :D

There are a few on here that are a tad less than pleased with the R6 shock, or so I have been reading, with some saying they are going back to the standard Yamaha pogo stick. But I do wholeheartedly agree with Twist of the Wrist it is a very good reference book with lots of tips to make you safer and yet cover the ground quicker, if you rate the book buy the DVD as well as it also help understand a lot of what the book is telling you, I think it is the old adage that 'A picture is worth a thousand words'.
I think one of the main theams of both the book and the DVD is 'DONT PANIC'
