Just bought and tested one of these....
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005Q6CJI4?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005Q6CJI4?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00)
Cheap but works well AND of course they just reduced the price to under £10 !!!!
May work on a bike if the suction cap fixes to the inside of a fairing or maybe even the tank? (Not sure about voltage?)
First time I used mine I filmed a young girl drive straight through a red light !!!!
Worth a lookie lou.
-
Damm good heads up there - cheers, just bought one :thumbup
-
do you need the card and the other thing with it? I been looking for one, that looks fine.
-
Will need an SD card, bigger the better, but comes with everything else. Has a USB lead and a 12v car ciggie socket.
If you work out how to turn on the Infra Red let me know.
As I say you may find better but probably not cheaper?
-
Nice find, I've added it to my wish list for now and will probably buy it when funds aren't as dicey as they are right now
-
just ordered nice one. :)
-
I'm here to be a pain in someone's arse ..
Any chance of a few pics of what this looks like set up on the dash please?
-

Ditto. :)
-
I had one of these, worked fine for a few months, then it started to only record when it felt like..
not the best quality, or the easiest to use.
hope you have better luck than me... I use my Contour Roam camera in the car now as well as a helmet cam.
;)

I know it says you preferably need a 32Gb Class 10 SD card but which SD card is it exactly, there appears to be a choice, like micro sd, ultra micro sd, etc?
-
Standard SD size (aka not Micro or Mini)

Nice one, i ordered a camera yesterday for my mum's motor.
If i haven't got an SD card hidden somewhere at home i'm sure my boss will have a stash of them at work, although i s'pose any card would do with the adaptor. :thumbup

Found Youtube clip of a Test of this camera - looks good to me. Can't wait for mine.
Set the Youtube playback setting to 720(HD)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-4MRLv6oRs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-4MRLv6oRs)

32Gb SD card apparently gives you 6.5 hours recording of video/audio on a loop when set to 720p, but it's advised you buy a Class 10 SD card. (for those of you who can't be arsed to read the reviews) :thumbup
-
Note that Class 10 only requires the card to perform at a minimum Read / Write speed of 10 MB/s and that you can get varying cards even at this classification.
The card I linked to is UHS-I (Ultra High Speed I) rated and performs at up to 45 MB/s despite the minimum requirement still being 10 MB/s. Take all of this in to account when buying a "high performance" SD Card before you get caught out like a few others who reviewed probably did.
More information, should you wish, is available here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital)

ta ordered
-
Ordered mine last night along with class 10 card as recommended in the reviews when it arrives will let you know how it goes
-
I might use mine as a home security camera set to motion detect and have it look at the bike through the dinning room window :D

Cool, i wanna see if there's any knocking about at work first, but i have this week off so won't know 'til Monday, but it's being delivered to work anyway so no big deal.
There's a small chance my boss will have a large unwanted stash of them. :D
-
I watched the vid at 720 and could not read any number plate or sign posts, is that an issue or was that just settings my end
-

You record at 720p
-
You can record and watch.
A video can be recorded in 1080p but you can still watch in 720p if you want.
Either way 720p should be fine to read plates/signs. If you can it's probably more to do with poor quality video or vibration.
For 10 quid i doubt it will be fantastic and the Amazon reviews pretty much show this.
Ok for a bit of fun, but I wouldn't want to rely on the video for insurance purposes.
-
One more quick anecdote - 720p and 1080p define the SIZE of the video in pixels, not the quality of the image ;)
720p is 1280x720 pixels
1080p is 1920x1080 pixels
And no, the p does not stand for pixels ;)
-
I was refering to this
Set the Youtube playback setting to 720(HD)
I did and the playback quality was no that good and the reason for my interest was for insurance use

Similar reasons with me Sharpy, but for£20 all in I thought I'd take a punt. Should arrive today/tomorrow so will take a quick vid and post it up along with a couple of still frames from the vid.
I was thinking that if the quality wasn't 100% then I would be taking camera shots out of the car anyhows and the video would give the whole picture.
Let you know fella.

The 'P' stands for pyjamas, you will see a clearer picture if you watch playback in your pyjamas.

A mate has just bought one of these and its stuck to the side of his fairing. I've seen footage of him doing 150mph (private race track) and the footage is pretty impressive quality
http://www.amazon.co.uk/eSynic%C2%AE-Camera--Waterproof-Camcorder--Climbing/dp/B00GLPW3U8/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1427716026&sr=8-10&keywords=dvr+mini+9 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/eSynic%C2%AE-Camera--Waterproof-Camcorder--Climbing/dp/B00GLPW3U8/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1427716026&sr=8-10&keywords=dvr+mini+9)
It will need a good quality card. The battery seems to last for about an hour. The only negative being sound quality, or noise. It has the mike as part of the body so wind noise is a nuisance.

Ordered mine 24th march sd card arrived but no sign of camera :\
-

-

-

Okay, think mine is either a Chinese copy or an old one - mine doesn't have the same functions as the one in this link (look at 5mins onwards)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9pnVzSmw5U (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9pnVzSmw5U)
Still not a bad camera though for the money and is more than adequate for any insurance issue.
-
In those sorts of Amazon group buys, the items aren't always from the same seller / Merchant so often have different delivery methods and dates ;)
-
Just looked at my order, I never realised it was coming from Hong Kong, I doubt i'll see that for a while yet then. :\

You better look again darrsi, did you by chance order it on April 1st? lol

Just noticed "frustration free packaging" for an extra £2.30 on top, does that mean they use their scissors to open the plastic packet, rather than you attempting to open it with your teeth whilst strapped up in a strait jacket??? :rolleyes
Ordered off Ebay eventually, even though i still haven't got my camera yet. :\
-
yep no sign of mine yet :rolleyes
-
yep no sign of mine yet :rolleyes
Hong Kong used to be okay with post in the UK, but a workmate told me things have changed due to tighter security which is why it can take a bit longer now.
I reckon it'll turn up next week. :thumbup
Dunno why i'm getting excited, i don't even drive, i'll set it up in my mums car. :car
-
at last mine has arrived -struggling to read blurred instructions--got it working of a fashion--ill get mrs dinger on the job she good with fiddley buttons
-
mine turned up on a pushbike with a chinky riding it, and a brown bag in his hand, shouting you want soft finger, effing else,. :rollin
-
It's arrived :woot
-
yep got mine
lets see how well it works as a movement triggered security camera :D
-
My SD card should turn up today, i'll have a look at it properly after work tonight.
-
Did anyone get a battery with there's? I bought one, it has an internal battery but never came with a removable battery. My picture quality is abysmal too, I can only read number plates of vehicles close than 10 feet away. Barely tell what brand of car is attached to the plate. I'm in contact with the seller so let's hope I can remedy the poor picture.
Mickey
-
Mine came with a battery, SD card hasn't shown up yet though. :\
I've only switched the thing on to have a quick look, but first impressions on the small monitor were very good, which can only look better once the card is put into a laptop with a bigger screen.
-
Same as darrsi ,will have a proper play at the weekend
-
Here's a photo from my dash cam. After corresponding the chap at the other end said it was the same as the description but maybe not as good as I'd thought it would be. No shit says I.
Mickey
-
Thats what I said on page 1
I watched the vid at 720 and could not read any number plate or sign posts, is that an issue or was that just settings my end
-
There may be focus issues as well, but the blockiness of that image makes it look like it wasn't taken by a 720 line sensor... I'd guess it's 180 lines interpolated up to fake high definition.
-
Still haven't played with mine, as SD card hasn't arrived although could now be at my work, but that does look particularly bad.
Did notice i could switch to 1080 as well though.
I'll post results shortly.
-
My menu is not in english :'(
anyone know how to change before I hunt the internet please ?

Just found an SD card, albeit not a high speed one, just so i could have a play with it.
First impressions........pretty damn ropey to be honest, but i'm gonna be more critical than most 'cos i spend all day looking at HD monitors at work.
720 was certainly noticably worse than 1080 so that won't get used, i never even bothered trying the VGA setting.
There's not many menus to go through, just adjust them one at a time and you can't go too wrong, unless you press the system reset button, then everything is displayed in Chinese, which is fine, if you're Chinese, but i am not.
If you do this perchance, press the menu button and it's the 2nd menu down that changes it back.
I noticed if you take a still of a paused video it makes it even worse so i've not bothered showing one on here yet, until i've tried the correct card out.
It didn't seem to do too much when i plugged the unit into the USB on my laptop, it didn't want to recognise it at all, but that's no big deal.
I took the card out, and inserted it into my laptop instead and it asked me if i wanted to download media, which it did straight away, then you can just play the file(s).
You need to format the card before using it too, which is on one of the menus.
I'll post more when it's been tried out properly, but for under a tenner i was hardly expecting 8k quality.
It is what it is.......cheap and cheerful, and is really designed to see vehicles misbehaving rather than the drivers eyes, so it is more than capable of doing the job. :)
-
Although not great for recording a license plate it would still be of use in a claim I reckon. Consider Punkstig's crash - no license shown but perfect evidence to show the fault of the driver :)
-
Poxy SD card still hasn't turned up. :'(
-
Ebay refunded my money today, SD card never turned up and i got no response from the seller.
Bastard. :grumble
-
well mine is up and running on motion detection string at the kwak in its little shed :lol
Picture is ok good enough to ID a scote if they have not bothered to cover their face plus it looks the part being on the inside of my dinning room window
Darrsi I can get you a cheap class 10 card if you are struggling
