Title: Next gremlin - fuel light
Post by: dcurzon on 09 October 2014, 04:09:42 pm
Fuel low light used to work... would come on at around 195 if i been good, 170ish if i was less good... ;
now it doesnt come on at all!  Did a risky 200 miles and still no light.  Filled up 16.something litres at that point  ('99 FZS600, 18l tank i think? ).
any indicators on what i should be looking at or testing?  Fuel guage still works the same.
cheers

Never seen mine work, i prefer to keep fuel in the tank rather than letting it get that low.

My dad has the opposite problem. His wont go out because of a broken wire under the tank.

From memory, the sender unit in the tank only has two wires which control both the light and the gauge. Check the bulb!

Could be blown bulb. The oil level and low fuel lights should come on when the starter button is pressed. If one of them doesn't it's probably just the bulb that needs replaced

You know what in 13 years with the bike I have never noticed this------I will make a note of looking next time I start up, and I do run the fuel down to the light on and I have seen my oil light on so I know they work

The time you notice it the most is when the kill switch is off. Pressing the starter button just kills the lights making you think you have a flat battery when infact it is just your brain that is flat :pokefun
