Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Fzs1000 hydraulic clutch
« on: 14 January 2017, 08:46:04 pm »
doesn't the arm move the same distance as the clutch lever? (assuming it pulls at 90 deg)
but doesn't a hydraulic one push the rod in rather than pull the arm?

the ones in the amazon link say thay have got a fan in the base?
Correct, thats the reason I bought them. No little fan to get wet and ultimately fail.

but it says they HAVE got a fan in the base on the ones you bought?

Tested the clocks today against a speedo app on the phone. When I'm doing 50kph the clocks are reading 90kph, at least now I know I'm not losing my marbles :b  Anybody know if there are any subtle differences between the earlier of later models or the N and S which could result in this?

so your speedo is in kph?
def sounds like its reading in mph
maybe has been refaced like here?

can you start it and let it idle then touch the downpipes (quickly) to see which is coolest. this should be the one to check the plug of.
although if one plug is faulty then i would change the lot

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: RHS Switching Gear Locating tab...
« on: 10 September 2016, 09:22:10 pm »
i had this on another bike (triumph)
i drilled a small hole where the tab was and screwed in a small self tapper but left the head stuck out so it went into the handlebar hole.
or you could wind some tape onto the bar so it grips tighter

one of those brackets broke on mine as well. i made a new one from a piece of alloy but fixed it back onto the rad with jb marine weld then spray it black again.
never had a problem with it since.
i think if you try alloy weld you will prob blow through. i think alloy corrosion was the original cause of the break

the reservoir is just an expansion tank so doesn't work by gravity. the expanded water goes into the tank and is sucked back as it cools again i believe.
it could only fill while filling rad if the water was going down the overflow pipe (i think)

make sure you keep the tank cap on when filling rad then rad cap on when filling tank

are you overfilling the reservoir  tank. the high mark is hard to see but is quite away down from the top, if it is overfilled maybe it could syphon itself out?
