« on: 19 September 2018, 03:22:28 pm »
Hey there.
If you not have done so and they are not totally splitted, I would not do. I did mine and it was just small cracked when i took it off the crack was only on the outside rubber and there is a hard tube inside not sure what is made off but all of them were just fine. I replaced though since i had got the rubbers anyway

Taking them off is not a big job. I never done that before and just got loads of info on the net. There is one of my posts which i have some links on how to do so. Is for FZS 1000 but basic is the same principals and even easier to do.

Note: if you doing you don't need to flush your rads. Unless if you intend to do so. Just clamp the hose that goes to the carb.
Hope you get that sorted.

cheers.

Davie is right Road Camber will cause tyres to wear on the right hand side.

Ok that might be the issue them. I will check the forks and calipers anyway just to rule out.
Thanks for the sketch!  :D

Hi there
Bretty is right. You need to spray them every you back from a ride as they will be hot and the oil will penetrate on the thread.
That is what i did when i replaced my pipes and every day i did a bit of turn on them nothing major and put back in place again.
Also on the day that you are changing your pipes. Get a hand gas torch and heat them up and again spray them up.

After doing that my ones came out very easy.

Be careful if you see that they are not turning don't put too much force on them.

good luck!

FZS600 Fazer / Front Wheel Alignment
« on: 13 August 2018, 06:14:24 pm »
Hello All.
I have noticed that my front wheel is been wearing more on the right side than on the left. Is become quite noticeable now.
I have done a quick search on google and some people were saying that it might be that the forks might be need to be straighten.
Wondering if this is a hard thing to do or should i get someone to do that.

Cheers

Hey guys.
Strange issue here today. I was out on holidays for a couple weeks and my bike was idle during this time. Before i went on holidays my rad was leaking so i removed the radiator and prepared the bike for the new one that i ordered.
Today i managed to get the new radiator on the bike. But when i tried to start the bike it would not start. Even with the choke on.
I managed to get the bike started, but noticed that the fuel pump was priming even with the bike running.
Eventually it died. after that it starts but after a few minutes it dies.
Please note that i have just recently service the bike  -  clean the carbs, sync it, change the HT leads and plugs, oil, filter, air filter etc.

Not sure if this is related to the replacement of the radiator. I would not think so.

Thanks for your help

 :o :o

Leaking from where, can you see the exact spot?

Thanks for the replies.
Is from the rad alright not from the hoses as i turned the bike on and when i rev it a can see the coolant leaking from one the cells of the rad.
Fixing it.. I think i better buy a new one as this is the original and is 15 years old.
I was looking at these https://www.ebay.ie/itm/Aluminium-Racing-Radiator-for-Yamaha-FZS600-Fazer-1998-2003-Engine-2002-2001/253252829705?hash=item3af70b8209:g:dZQAAOSwY~1aIPjT#shpCntId anyone has used these before.

Also yesterday i was removing the old rad and one of the nuts that holds the rad fan were locked and i had to use extra force to get it out after hitting it up. When i took the rad off the fan blades came off the fan. I am not sure if this was just sitting there - which i dont think so or it was glued. I tried to put it back but i don't seem to figure out how did it came out.
Are these clued to the based of the fan?

thanks

Most likely you had a gravel from the wheel which hit the radiator. It happened with a friend of mine.

« on: 09 May 2018, 05:39:39 pm »
Hey check this out. This is for Fz1 but it applies to FZS600 and on 600 is much easier than FZ1
have a go but make sure that you have all your hose connections labeled so to put them in place as you found.
Another thing, if you are taking carbs for cleaning, make sure you count the turns of the mixture screw otherwise you will have a problems when you put it back on bike.
Also bench sync your carbs to make it easier to balance them later on.

Good luck

Hey
Have you tried to trim the ends of them or are they very bad that you need to replace them all.
As you will need to buy the whole ht ignition coil system.

Hey Guys.
Sorry for the delay on posting a reply here. I only managed to get the bike to a mechanic last week.
Ok all problems sorted.
Issues: HT caps needed replacement, bad spark plug due to bike running on one cylinder only (Brand new ones), Adjusted the fuel mixture and re-balanced carbs.

Anyway thanks all for all the advices they did not went on waist. I learned a lot with them and surely will apply some of them sometime( but hope not too soon! )  :lol

Take care.

Did you balance the carbs? Can you make a video of the bike running while its having the problem?
I did balanced the carbs but i think i might have to do it again since i balanced with the old filter in and it might have give me false results.
Will try to do a video to show the issue.

cheers

what do you mean when you say starts to  struggle  lack of power ? cutting out ?

Lack of power.
Is like if i was on the wrong gear. the bike jerks. then it picks up speed again and is fine. it just happens when i lets say reduce speed and gear and try to increase power. Climbing a hill for example.

Thanks

Hey All.
Ok i checked the choke plungers and they seem to be working fine. I can see them moving out and returning to their position once the choke is closed and  I did trim the ht leads about 3-5mm at the ends.
i reset the pilot screw to 2 1/2 turns and took for a ride yesterday.
on the straight road the bike is just fine but if i start climbing a hill and open up the throttle then the bike start struggle.
At this point i am not sure what to do next and might bite the bullet and take to a mechanic.

I am going to do a last check on the connections to the air box and ensure everything is correct. Other than that i have to light a candle.  :'(

PS. I put a new set of iridium spark plugs about a month ago.

On a Fazer the mixture screws adjust the amount of fuel at idle not the amount of air so if you turn them out it'll make the mixture richer. If you turn them in it'll make it leaner. If you're at 3 turns out you're making it richer. You're thinking the problem is it's running rich so put them back to 2 1/2. To check the choke is working. If you pull the choke lever and look at the carb you'll see the choke plungers moving in and out as you pull the lever. They're on the engine side of the carb at the top. They're brass plungers. Check that they're all moving together and closing fully. Something I think you should do is take the bike for a spin and when you get back throw some water on the exhaust header and see if they all dry at the same rate. If they all dry at the same rate then the problem is likely something affecting all cylinders if one dries at a different rate to the others then that suggests it's a problem that affects just one cylinder. Another easy thing to do if you haven't already is trim the ends off the ht leads they corrode and can cause problems.

When you say trim the ht leads do you mean to cut it a bit. Are these the ones for the plugs right. Sorry never heard of them before.

thanks
