I think tourmax are one of the better ones if they do them ( sure they are OEM quality), Allens carbs but they are slow ( 2 years still waiting for a DT carb) i personally would avoid Keyster kits , they get bad press on LC forums etc. or Fowlers Yamaha? Mark

Just had the same issue on my Gen 1 , i used Allballs fork kit and couldn't get the top bush to seat all the way same as you, so i ordered gen yam stuff , then a set of forks came up on ebay cheap so i brought them , just changed the oil. once the bike is together i may attempt redoing the ordinal forks or just sell the lot (forks in bits, gen yam seals & top & bottom bushes) i have also rebuilt many sets of forks over the years but i did admit defeat on these !! Fitted a new (to me) uncut wiring loom to the Fazer 1000 Wonkey Donkey project, it had an old alarm which I bypassed but still loads of issues, clocked turned off when lights were on, right indicators didn't work etc, spent about 20 hours trying to sort the dodgy loom, took me 2 hours to replace it Next job fix the neutral light (which didn't work before i swapped the loom) as it wont turn over unless the side stand is up Mark

I use Motobatt on all my bikes, the R1 has had one for 5 years, the LC for a year ,RXS100 2 year (6V so i use a Motobatt charger from Yambits) however my 1st R1 was still going strong after 8 years (Motobatt). i use an optimate charger i got at the bike show in 2001 and its still going strong, i fit battery leads for charging convenience, i don't leave the bikes on charge i charge them monthly. The Fazer 1000 came with a dead AGM battery (not Motobatt) but it charged ok and is fine while i work on the bike but when i start using it daily i will get a Motobatt as i have never had an issue with them. I think Lithium need a certain type of charger but im not sure TBH Mark

So i thought i would have a bash at unseizing the EXUP valve , put the bike on the centre stand and notice the stand is split anyway deal with that later, try and remove exup cover, 2 bolts ok 1 rounded , had to snap the cover to get it off, notice the cables are snapped, the pulley just crumbled and the bolt heads are just rust So exup not fixed not sure to fit some non exup headers or try and fix this mess and looking at the header stud bolts i think i will try and fix the exup first. Moved on to trying to fix the occasional working right hand indicators/hazard switch, stripped, cleaned, reassembled and nothing, so new(2nd hand) switch needed. Did manage to fit two new exhaust clamps on the Micron Mark

Have you checked the red "engine on/off" button on the right hand switch?

i am doing up a neglected 03 and doing suspension now i got the 08 r6 shock drilled the top to 12mm got 2mm spacers for the top found a very helpful guy on ebay that has all dogbone size if you want standard hight its 130mm i wanted to lower mine so got 134mm so just under 20mm lower
Great info, i think you can get DL650 dogbones at 129mm that fit ( been searching the net), did you drill the top of the shock to 12mm or the frame( im guessing the shock?)

Ask for a cash in lieu settlement , you keep the bike and the insurance pay you a percentage of the repairs, you can then source 2nd hand parts, and as others have said until you're paid out its still your bike. Mark

Thank you, the bike is a bit of a mess so im ordering bits now and then in the warmer months give it a gentle resto as its going to be my all year round bike if, need to remove the bullsh!t shine paint job on the motor as nothing was masked up , paint the wheels/ frame, brackets etc, fix the exup and of course the forks and suspension but nothing major. i know a bit about the suspension but always good to know more and to know i can ask on here as well and the setting up will be fun !! Normally i would do this over the winter but i have a garage full: R1 RD250LC RXS100 RS100 DT50MX Fazer 1000 and an AJS125 Cadwell i commute on Going to let the RXS and the AJS go soon ............... i think Thanks Mark
