FZS600 Fazer / Re: Strange Noise After The Chain Was Adjusted! HELP !!!
« on: 16 November 2011, 07:53:38 pm »
Thanks all,

after boosting my confidence of doing my own service, oil change and filters etc in the back garden... i have taken the time too look carefully at what was wrong, the chain is slightly "warped" at about 6links just causing a bit of Sag.

ive popped upto the local bike shop and got a tin of lube for £6.50 (the cheapest and the best recomended too) put that on and left it, the bike seems to be to its usual self now.

i know i have to get new chain etc but i can now safely hold out until the bike show **gets really excited** and see what i can pick up there  :lol

and yes, it did make a little mess but most went on the cardboard i had put down and the rest straight into an old plastic milk bottle  :eek

I must have good aim  ;)

yup, mine does it too, sometimes if i misjudge the revs/clutch i get it 2nd into 3rd too.... its get easier the more you ride, but yeah when i ride out with a brand new ninja, R6 and bandit it can be embarrassing when im pulling away compared to them  :b

yeah ive found it..... i thought it was the wrong one because mine seems to now be fused to the bike...

 :rolleyes

now i have to figure out how to get it (and the fused on oil filter) off the bike! grrrrr  :lol

yeah, it had a slck spot which meant that when i was changing gear it was making a louder clunk then usual never gave me problems though....

after reading a few forums i am wondering if it has simply been done incorrectly... please correct me if im wrong but should the bike be on its wheels with me sitting on it?
it was tightened without anyone sitting on it and obviously with a bit of weight it causes the rear wheel to move and thus the chaion become tighter? is this correct? in which case it could just need loosening up for the time being?!?!?!

FZS600 Fazer / Strange Noise After The Chain Was Adjusted! HELP !!!
« on: 10 November 2011, 08:43:57 am »
Hello Hello Hello....... Me AGAIN !  :)
This bike seems to be giving me more problems then ever now!
one of my "yeye i can fix that" mates advised me that my chain was slack and needed tightening... so after much struggle of every nut, bolt and toggle being "far too tight" he ended up taking the rear spindle out and taking the adjusters out as they were filthy and almost impossible to move...
So far we were going ok, he put the spindle back in and adjusted the chain etc so its matching both sides of the swing arms etc etc etc..... soooo the problem......
I left to ride home, (a 40min journey that actually took 2hours) and i noticed the problem.
The Knocking..... it felt a bit like my rear wheel was about to fall off. when i got back it was pitch black but had another little look and it still seems to be aligned....
Any ideas of what i can do? i know im due for a new chain and sprocket but would this cause the knocking?
its a slow speeds as well as fast (although i didnt get about 40mph due to traffic)
Also i have just looked and noticed a few rust spots on the chain.
so please please please! help!

General / Battery Charger Advice please.....
« on: 08 November 2011, 02:20:10 am »
Hey Foccers,
I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if this here device would be able (or suitable) for charging a bike battery?
I have one already and use it to Charge LiPo batteries that fire high powered guns but wondered if it would do the job on a spare bike battery?
(i hope the link works properly!)  :\

i use the pay at pump thingy now, now i dont have to get off the bike or remove my helmet.... i call it intiative.... others call it lazy  :lol

theres a station near work though (a small independant one) who never asks me to remove my helmet or pay first but makes all the cars do it...
i think he likes looking at me in my leathers though  :rollin

Thats what i mean Major, with all these different opinions i am still non the wiser as to what i should use.... i know in my moped i used the Comma and that was fairly ok, and have used cheaper versions for that.

So is cheap ok, does it make a difference ?

Easy Rider 13, what have you done?  I saw your post and thought take cover.   It is a much discussed subject, as you can now tell.  Something the right spec, semi-synth, nothing fancy, will do the job.
Cheers
Dave

hey dave,
after reading all this everyday i am even more confused then before, ha! I really just needed to know which oil it is i.e. 10/40 4stroke etc, only ever having a moped before my bike! I think im looking at the silkolene stuffs which i can buy with my service kit?

BTW, is 4 litres enough for a full oil change?

cheeerrrrrrs!

(p.s.... you may continue your bickerments as it is rather enjpyable  :lol )

having a father like mine i have always had no choice but to know about things as he usually forces me to watch him do something until i never forget.

Car wise im sorted as the fatehr in law is a mobile mechanic so i just cook him tea and buy him a few cans of lager as payment.....

my bike on the other hand, well, i have a LOT of bike friends who all say yeah i'll do it, i can do this and that,... then they come round my house complaining that "the break isnt working quite right" or "it keeps clinking and i dont know why?"  <<<< all men may i add!  :rollin

As much as i love them all i like to know whats wrong, take it to a garage, watch them repair it and make sure i get a receipt for it..... if something goes on my car then i have wheels to keep me stable, if its on the bike then as you know im likely to be killed...!

i have given up with the wheel for the time being as i am waiting to service the thing and want to change a lot of parts so that they are nice and shiney new.... i cleaned a bolt the other day and found out that most in my bike are blue?!?! i thought they were all black.... thats just dirt from the previous owner!  :rolleyes

ALSO !

can someone also tell me why a lot of garages will only deal with LOOSE WHEELS?!

cheers!

ha thank you all for your input here...
i have to admit im not amazing with things but once ive been taught something i very rarely forget it. i just have theory that if i do work on a wheel/tyre etc and it fails its my fault.... if a garage does it and it goes wrong, i have the satifaction after to go hit them with the part that has come off!
 :lol

Ive been from garage to garage to get a simple problem sorted yet they all seem to talk to me like im a complete imp?!?!

they are like well have u done this... or that.... er yes hense the reason i am coming to you...

I know what is wrong i just dont know how to fix it....

and after 2 different garages and another one right now seeming to be taking me for a fool i seem to have given up any hope of getting my wheels balanced properly!
