akrapovic full system fitted
« on: 10 August 2012, 02:26:08 pm »
Hi all, fitted the akra headers and teamed up to Bos can as it has the correct stamps, as off for MOT, spoke to tester and he said as long as not over loud the akra can would have passed.
Slight problem my battery failed at test centre, so MOT with engine running then trip for new battery at bike shop, another £55, not bad I thought.
With full monty and new pipes this bike howls!
Instant drive from tickover, no dips or troughs, at 5k revs we are off! So much power all through the rev range.
Really impressive, just hard to hold on now :lol
Some weight loss too, also removed exup cables aswell .
Many thanks to Tmation for sale of pipes, a real bargain.
Off to try akra end can now, more throaty.

It looks the dogs and fits with pyramid belly pan.

Cheers all will post pics soon once I fathom how from new phone.

Jacko :lol

Jacko got a great deal on a set that another member was selling here a short while ago, JP.

Unfortunately Akra no longer make these systems but they were close to £1000 before they got pulled from the line-up.

Very occasionally full systems for the Gen 1 appear on ebay.

Yes guys I quickly snaffled the pipes :lol
I have been afta a set for about 5 years. An alternative is a titanium arata system, but you lose the rear pegs as the can sits higher, I think faster by design sell them online and sometimes on offer on eBay. Around £750 though.
Will try and get pics up soon.
Cheers all Jacko :)

Back to the feel of the bike with the system fitted. The bike is defo more urgent now, it revs faster, can't feel any loss of low down performance, it pulls cleanly and even at 2k revs the power is instant, by 4k it wants to pull hard. Find myself changing gear sooner and using midrange a hoot.
It just shows how good the full monty Mike fitted is. Be interesting to get bike dyno'd now.
I haven't even had to adjust tickover.
The weight loss is impressive too.
Downside is no provision for centre stand, but I can pop it on for working on the bike so no probs to me. The akra can is a bit lighter than the bos can in the pics, and has a deeper growl.
One question should I use either copaslip on pipe joints or some kind of antiseize grease? The pipe work was made up when I got it.
Overly in very impressed and lucky with such a bargain off here :)

Nah mate you just beat me to the system !! He who snoozes loses.

I did have a full akro on another gen1 it had the carbon hex can, twas a lovely system and since I've tried about every route to buy a new system but as you aware there no longer.
