... the day I collected the Fazer from Carnell's in Milton Keynes and I still can't think of another bike that could take its place.

After a decade of ownership and 46k miles, the old girl has lost about 30lbs, gained almost 20bhp and has had more than a few other changes to suspension and appearance.

To celebrate the anniversary, this morning we converted 20 litres of Snr Repsol's finest unleaded into sound and speed. Fun at its finest.

Simply the best.

Isn't that the age for criminal responsibility? That means from now on, it really should know better.

my second fazer now has 8 yrs and 36 k, so is still a relative youngster ...but had a delightful ride on sunday, in warmish dry , sunny conditions ....still has the performance to get the adrenaline going.That awesome kick at 4k..prodding the gear lever and realising, feck it was in top.....how can it accelerate that quick !Even the K tech sussies have settled down now, and the ride quality was good for the big speeds we were doing ...
It is a fabulous motorcycle.I cant see me ever selling it tbh ...it owes me nothing at all. Reckon it will do at least double the mileage.

Just wish we had ur weather !

Nice to know your K-tech bouncy bits have suppled-up (aka, run-in, I guess), Jon. Just goes to show that it's not only an engine that needs time to bed down.

Yes, I have had a break from my fazer for 7 weeks,riding another bike, its given me the chance to recover and fully appreciate just what I have got. I also can see just how superb the K tech sussies just are...its comparable to the finest out there.I really had lost my confidence in K tech, but its all back now !

My thoughts are to get my gen1 sprayed up now, over the winter , its going to be a keeper...so I fancy investing in a yammy speedblock type paint job...probably in classic blue !

Glad you've regained your faith in K-tech, mate.

I'll nail me colours to mast (pun intended) and say that I've never seen a Yamaha speedblock job on a Fazer that's really worked, IMHO. There's not enough surface area to get the proportions right and the body panels, fairing and tank don't support a flowing line.

Looked brilliant in red on M1 MotoGP bike and the 2012 R1, though.

Didnt realise you had ur fazer for so long ...well done ...verily a big achievement.

In the last 8 yrs I have had.....8 bikes !!... not that I am fickle or cant make me mind up like ....

My last gen1 sold in 2005( purchased new in 2001), my current one I bought in Jan 2008... so I have racked up 8-9 yrs but with a divorce halfway thru !

The addition of the gixxer thou K7 for fazee's stable friend , came close to a divorce, especially once her indoors calmed down, and I said I wouldn't spend any more and bought a set of titanium arrows and decat pipe. She never noticed when she helped me put bike on paddock stand, even starting it up. Thought I'd got away with until some prat mentioned the cans in front of the missus

. Ape she went!
Need a power commander now to sort fuelling out

. Problem is wife keeps my books!

One good thing is she wouldn't let me sell the fazer even if I wanted to

Forgot to add, it's this forum help, guys like you lot that have made fazer ownership a blast. As much as I have always loved my sportsbikes there is nothing out there that offers all round practicality than the big old girl. I still have'nt finished modding the fazer yet, even after 7 years.
Front forks still standard and want full system.
A bike I can ride two up and then go mad alone is the right balance for me.

Going back to wot I rote above...it really is a wolf in sheeps clothing. Lost count of the times other bikes have done a double take as the fazer is still competitive on the road.With the full monty kit fitted it really spreads out the power , so it always seems to have more than enuff in any situation. It was only my 1050 speedy which could out grunt it off the line, but would lose out on any longer stretch of road.Useability and practicality, combined with excellent manners and ergos.Like Mike says...just what out there is there to compare ??
Its interesting to compare it to another fabled all rounder , the GS.Both are " all rounders" but feel very different animals to ride.By contrast the fazer feels like a blade ! So much sportier.Maybe a MS will be close??
Many mags are now realising the Triumph explorer actually isnt a GS beater and are starting to class it as a alternative fast roadster...but IMO the fazer still wins out over it ,with the engine, engine, engine.The explorer could never beat the fazer apart from gadgets.I also noted how Triumph have deliberately tuned their engine ( see latest Bike mag) to mimic the GS power delivery...so its never going to rival a gen1.Its actually limited in 5th and 6th gear !..maybe they should stop messing around and put a full fat 1200 in a proper roadster chassis ??, instead of that overtall, over heavy , clumsy chassis.
I do wonder if Triumphs new 1050 Tiger sport will be closer ??

The beach looks good and as always the bike looks superb. It's nice to see it from a different view, usually I'm watching it disappear in to the distance

Save some of that Snr Repsol for me, I'll need it in 6 weeks! Looking forward to getting some miles on the clock.
