Ivanising in May - Who is interested?
« on: 24 January 2014, 07:47:27 am »
Hi everyone,

I am starting to put together a plan for an 'Ivanising' trip over the period 15 - 18 May.

So far I have around 7 names on the list and it looks likely that I will begin on the Thursday in Bournemouth/Portsmouth then move on to Cheshunt before winding up somewhere around Barnsley on Sunday.  I also have owners from Milton Keynes and Stoke to fit in and the final schedule will be tweaked to best accommodate everyone who signs up.

To make the trip viable, I need a minimum of 10 bikes to work on so I'm already close to going firm on this visit.  However, I would like to make an early decision so that I can book flights while they're still reasonably priced.

If you would like to get your Gen 1 'Ivanised' drop me a line by e-mail (not PM, please) ... mikegreatorexAThotmail.com ... and I'll provide you all the information you need on installation options and so on.

To help me with planning routes etc, please include your full name, your postcode and a contact phone number.

First come, first served, so don't delay!   :)

Cheers,

Mike

Unlikely to be north of the border this side of the summer ... sorry, too busy in my day job by then,  However, I'm still willing to do a quick in-out dash to Scotland if I can get 6 bikes to do in one location, either Glasgow or Edinburgh.

Looks like I now have 9 bikes to work on so very close to going firm on this visit. :)

If you're interested and haven't yet got in touch, please do so soon to avoid disappointment. ;)

I'd like to have my bike Ivanised but I'll be in France for the GP at Le Mans so will there be another opportunity later this year or early next?
This is as young as you're ever going to be!

Hopefully I'll be making another trip later in the year, towards the end of Sept/early October.

Drop me a line now and I'll add your name to the waiting list and contact you directly when I start planning the next visit. :)

Arggghhh! One of them Gen II fuel-injected frame-crackers. :lol

Unfortunately - for you, that is - I'm strictly Gen 1 carbs and the Full Monty refers to the Ivan's mods I do on the older, superior model of Fazer Thou. ;)

Kidding aside, what you need is Ivan's ECU flash for the Gen II, a PC V module for the fuelling, and a few other complimentary tweaks to the airbox/air filter.  For the very best results, a Yoshi full system does the trick but that adds a big chunk of cash to the tally sheet.

Check out the long thread about Ivan's ECU flash on the US FZ1OA forum.  It started back when Ivan was thinking about doing this, then he parked the idea for a while before re-opening the subject and bringing it to very successful fruition:

Lots of other discussion/info about tuning the Gen II on the same forum.  Sign up and hit the Search trail. :)

Don't sweat the frame crack comment.  A few of the early model ones had issues with welds on the frame but it's not been an issue since then and if yours was suspect, it would have most likely failed before now.

I don't know of anyone who specialises in doing Ivan's Gen II mods but they're mostly bolt on stuff with maybe a bit of tweaking of electronics and loading of maps into the PC V.  I'm pretty sure you could do this yourself.

Right, 'tis booked.  Flights and rental car all arranged, so this is a goer. :)

Working Friday 16th May in Stoke-on-Trent; Saturday morning in Milton Keynes and afternoon in Cheshunt.  Sunday 18th again in Cheshunt and then finishing up on Monday down in Bournemouth.

I may still be able to slot a couple more in for those coming late to this thread.  Please don't delay - contact me ASAP, details in the opening post.

Cheers!

Mike
