I'm sure I read somewhere about someone fitting SV650 clipons? They mount under the top yoke but have a hell of a rise on them to make them a fairly comfortable ride - would be ideal for the FZS600? Also have the same 41mm fork size so no problems there!

worth a look! cant think of any other clip ons with that much of a rise,

if the legs are that much longer are you going to end up with much of a drop compared to the standard bar with just a lower mount?

Superb DIY fork rebuilding Reillypadraig. Got mine to do this summer, ill be reffering back to your thread. Nice one!

thanks, glad i might help some one, i paid 11 euro for seals and 12 euro for oil, local place wanted 80 quid a leg, not including any extra time if damper gets stuck, so bitta money saved!

FZS600 Fazer / forks, no seal pusher required
« on: 19 June 2013, 07:42:35 am »
got the seals done finally,

instead of going out and buying a seal pusher or going back to the garage and admitting defeat i got 2 3 inch lengths of waste pipe, the white pipe under the sink, and split them (just one cut on the vertical so you can stech it open) and i streched one onto the fork, but doesnt fit the whole way around, the i put the other on from the far sidecover in the splight but about 10 mill up from the bottom of the first one and then got a large fastener, same as on the rad hoses and tighted it to the leg

reason i left the the first one i put on about the mill lower is so that the first one is tight against the leg and so when you push the fork down it batters the top bush down, then when you have that done, its the seal next

quick tip....milk carton!, 2 liter plastic milk carton, just cut off the bit in the middle where the label is and where its smooth, dont need that much, rub grease on sealant grease is better if you have it, wrap that around top of fork in a cone shape, put seal over it and slide the whole lot down the leg and past all that stone chipping on the fork that you might not have got off, all the way now just pull the plastic milk carton piece out and push seal in,

get the waste pipe again put one on, the the second from the other side, just put the second one this tim down 10 mill and clip, this is now able to push the all important outside of the seal where you can hit it and doesnt hit the inner part of the seal against the fork

put dust cap on put all back in fork, fill with oil, job done!

have you started this yet? would be intresting to see this done...but how far down would you have to push the top yoke down for the t-cat clips? i reckon 25-30 mill? :eek  i droped mine 10 mil and already find a slight difference in the turn into corners.

also have you much tank clearance on full lock? i mean when its on and you dont hit the clocks will the clip on smack the tank? fair angle on them clip ons

interesting mod though

Just noticed yesterday that there is oil all around my seal and up the fork, it not running down the fork yet or anything, but I can feel it gone even in the handling and feel every bump in the road now. Just wondering how long have I got before is running down the fork and onto my tyre on my favourite corner

wish i had a bike that never reads empty  :lol ...........faulty sender unit ?  ;)
Possibly but when I check it when it was out of the tank and plugged it back onto the bike it seemed to work????

How fast is the fuel needle surposed to rise and fall?

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Direction of fuel float

Wel it was facing the back and reading full, took the float out completely and connected it directly to the sensor, turned on ignition and lifter the arm up and down and the gauge was following correctly, very slowly but correct, but still showing full with only 2-3 liters in it, turned it around to face the front with about 8 liters in it and it showed just under quarter but when I left the bike sitting of 5 mins to warm up it showed full again, so I filled it, when for a half hour spin and when I came back it showed quarter tank for a few mins and then back to full, it's nuts, just wants to show full all the time, strange 1

When I did fill it with float facing forward I could hear the float banging on the inside of the top of the tank so it must be surposed to face the back?

Silly question, is the float ment to be facing the front or the back of the tank? Fuel showing full all the time even if its almost empty

I foccing hate electrics I.e pic below, dodgy Indy.

I'd say check the battery first, won't cost a penny and rule out you having to go looking for problems that might not me there, hope its just the battery!!

Yes, adjust the nuts on the back on the bolt that goes into the cylinder, bringing the nuts down to the end should help

Plastic but just tightens it to the holder mate, won't really help, try making the spring shorter, just pull 1cm extra of spring through the hoop and bend again just under that plastic nut, should help
