Number one son , ex Gen 1 owner , living in the USofA just emailed me with a picture of his spanking new FZ1s. 2013 bike looking nice in blue . Cost $6,050 . That's about 4 grand in our money !!!

I bought one of the semi auto versions about 4 years ago when Yamaha were almost giving them away - less than £10k - and kept it for 2 years and 20,000 miles. Loved it and only moved it on when the weight became too much. Last week I read about the updated version and with my health improving had a new one delivered. It's the semi auto one with the usd forks , electric suspension, a lovely pair of Akro's ,and an amazing array of info on the clocks and loads of buttons to play with. Expensive but brilliant . The new suspension makes it almost flickable and the motor is sooo smooth. Not for you younger guys I think , stick to the FZ1's and Multistradas, but perfect my trips around Europe. Salesman told me that the semi auto box adds 10kgs to the weight , but that is balanced by not having a clutch lever. WTF ??

Had all mine done with a 'general' Fraser. Home a few hours later and back to normal after a week. I've had a few 'generals' in the last 5 years - everything from bike crash bone repairs to major bypass stuff - and it's always a challenge to see how far down from ten I can count before I'm gone. Never got lower than eight . Some great drugs about these days Fraser. Good luck

My bike is coming up for an intermediate service. Basic check all over plus new oil and filter. Dealer wanted £200 which included £78 for 4 litres of Shell Advance 4t fully synthetic. Gulp !! Fortunately I picked up a link to Opei Oils on 01209 215164 who next day delivered the required 4 litres for £29 plus £5 for delivery. (from Cornwall ???) Good retail margins on oil. Dunno if they will deliver to Spain.

Back in the '90s I took one of the first 600's out on a demo. Ended up in Prague after a week and got a message from George Whites in Swindon asking where their bike was . Did the 960 miles back in one hit - 20 hours - brilliant bike. On my return I asked to buy it and was told I had to wait two months for Yamaha to start dealer deliverys. The start of a 10 year love affair with Fazers.

This coming weekend. It's Calne Bike Show - google it - and the home page has a pic of as nice a Gen 1 trike as you will ever see. It is a great celebration of all things bike related. And it's free.

I had one for a year . Awesome power and totally reliable (although that depends on the dealer ). However - short range , hard work cruising at reasonable speed , suspension will need expensive sorting. Great for hooning about on ,only sold it for a much more suitable Multistrada (Pikes Peak of course) which is also brill. Seems to be loads of 2nd hand Diavels about at the moment , but owning both doesn't sit right with me. I'm still waiting for a Gen 3 Fazer with the new engine. Some hopes lol.

Still here folks. Both bikes (Diavel and GTR )are still faultless but my personal chassis and engine are feeling their age. I'm told some pills and a bit of surgery will fix things and should be okay for BotW to catch up.
Didn't get your text Jason ??
