For Sale & Wanted / Re: Gen 2 FZS1000S possibly for sale
« on: 08 March 2015, 09:20:18 pm »
I got offered what I paid for it 2 years ago so I am well chuffed.

Brand new MT-09 Tracer on order for April.

Thanks for the messages and if it's no good the first thing I will buy is a Gen 1 FZ1000S.

I have to say though the test ride was awesome. Giddy as a kipper.

Had a long ride home afterwards to reflect on just what an awesome machine mine is. You can't ask for more (except ABS, Traction Control, riding modes, better handling, ...)

For Sale & Wanted / Gen 2 FZS1000S possibly for sale
« on: 05 March 2015, 09:33:53 pm »
Might be buying an MT-09 Tracer so my beloved Fazer will be up for sale. '04 plate 31K miles. All original (apart from a sports rack but I have the original grab rails).

Need a good deposit so generous offers appreciated.

MOT'ed 1 week ago. No advisories. Good to go for a summer of hedge blasting. Located in North Yorkshire (as are all the best roads).

 :D

Most networks will have a coverage checker so if you contact Customer services they can tell you what to expect. It's not as reliable as actually testing it yourself obviously.

If you get duff signal at home but have WiFi there are boost boxes available to create a mini cell site in your home and there's also products like Tu Go that use the wifi direct.

I suppose I should declare an interest here though as I work for Telefonica (home of O2 and giffgaff).

For Sale & Wanted / Re: Exup cables

Venhill supply an inner cables set for about a tenner. Feed 'em through the existing outers (assuming they're ok), attach the included nipples and Bob's your uncle.

You never know when they might bring out a Hudl 2.

They are supposed to be good for the money. I've never used one.

Rode to work & back. (So what I hear you say?)

Rode to our office in Preston Brook which is a 90 mile journey across hill and dale and a blast down the M6/M56. Nearly ran out of fuel !!

Big respect to anyone who does motorway journeys regularly. I was blown all over and it was relentless. Much more fun on twisty dale roads.  :b

cheap vented textile jacket (but with all the pads)
Held Spike gloves
Shark Speed R with the vents open.

Was still hot though when not moving (traffic).

Yesterday, heading into Leeds on the A61 about 9am-ish. Blue 600 with a top box. I was on a silver thou with an associate on a Triumph America (I ask you?!)

When starting from cold, choke on, centre stand, my back wheel spins all by itself in neutral. You can stop it easy enough by hand / foot.

Stops once it's warmed up a bit.

Is this normal?
 :rolleyes

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Multi-gauge Multi-buy?
« on: 13 July 2014, 11:48:55 pm »
It works based on speedo/rpm. And yes, it's guesswork. etc...I guess it's fair to say that you won't find a gear indicator that works more perfect on this bike.

Thanks very much for the explanation. Sounds the biz. When pennies allow I shall be investing.

Sorry to be a dimwit. How does the gear indicator work ? or is it just a neutral indicator ?

i don't like the ones that work off speedo / rpm personally. seems like guesswork.

Cheers, DBo.

Red one coming through Bond End Knaresborough at 5pm. Had a tank bag I think. Think it was a Thou?

+1

I passed my DAS on a 600 and wanted one (XJ6). The instructor said 'You'll be bored in 6 months. Get a Fazer 8 or something.' Meaning something suitable for a salad-dodger.

Tested a Fazer Thou in a bike shop and just pootling around it was like a kitten then when you hit open road... Jaysuuuuus!!

Don't regret it for one second. Still not got it round the rev range and 'learning to lean'. I'm just happy being back on a bike and enjoying riding.

Happy bunny.

What if she'd mown down a horse and rider or a cyclist or a child ?

i think the sentence and the outcry would have been more.

Did my Direct Access o one. Such an easy bike to ride and mild mannered. I wanted one as a first big bike but the wise old instructor said 'You'll be bored in 6 months', so I bought a Mighty Thou and I am not bored.

Yay me! Took the mighty Thou into work and back when the roads were mildly moist and as a bonus no one in a car tried to ram me off the road.

Forgot to mention that there was an old-ish Gen 1 Thou at Asda in Adel, Leeds. Black 1.

Yay! First actual 'ride' of 2014. Just a quick blat out in the sunny North Yorkshire Dales.

Marvellous.

I just repaired my old double barrelled one. I have two battery compressors and a full compressor but I like the idea of a back up. The hose had split so i just cut it off and used a jubilee clip. time will tell if it's a good enough seal.

The Fazer horn is pretty weedy tho. When I've tried to avoid being killed by a car driver it just sounds so feeble.  :o

Bumped my head on it whilst getting the lock off my push bike.

Worse still, had the helmet cam on.

Doh!!
