FZS600 Fazer / metallic tape for exhaust bling
« on: 18 February 2015, 02:22:06 pm »
Hi all, my end can has nfr use on it and I was wondering if anyone knows of what type of tape or sticker would cover it safely. For some reason it is written in between the rivet strap at the back of the can so wondered if I could wrap it as MOT man says what the can't see don't hurt ;-)
Can not loud so not problem there just don't want any issues with it if I get stopped for anything

Bike is so yellow and black so something that looks OK with that would be good.
Thanks
Mark

I could be proved wrong here but people who have had cracked rubbers - incl me although they are cracked the crack is not all the way through with no performance issues.
A repair is black silicone and or self amalgamating tape

sounds like a plan :)
would silicone take the heat?

hey there. does the black on the link pipe clean off? have a stainless system at the mo and was thinking would look a bit weird with a black link pipe going to it?

on this note...stopped to get petrol at morrisons. put card in at pump a did all that jazz so effectively when I start to fill I have already paid for the fuel yes?

at this point the little shitebag in the paybit of store comes over the tannoy to tell me to remove my helmet and stops the fuel until I do!!

Now if I was going to ride off without paying I am thinking I wouldn't have paid with my card before hand...really fecked me off as no reason to remove helmet if I have already fecking paid!!!!!

before that at same place I was told to get off bike and put on side stand before filling???? again had paid.

needless to say have not and will not be back there.

Sounds like rear shock damping away to me. Had same thing on mine, especially when accelerating hard up hill, whole thing would shoogle about and was a bit scary.replaced rear shock (r6 from kebab) and is soooo much better. Also changed fork oil and that gave some much needed damping to the  front too

Afternoon all
Am thinking of replacing the end can on the fazer  and wondered if anyone has used or heard of  delkevic or simmi exhausts? Both look similar spec and only after a standard round stainless so prices are almost the same too but no idea if they are quality ornot ?
Simmi says lifetime guarantee, delkevic 12 months. Any thoughts are welcome. Have stainless system on just now but not legal end can :O

Most will pass it as long as it's not TOO LOUD. But you may have to put a bit of tape over the 'Not for Road Use' bit just for the MOT. That's what mine advised me to do. I think if they see those words it's a fail, but they're not allowed to remove the tape.
I like that idea. Its not that loud at all really, mind you I had an unbaffled firestorm before and that was ferking loud by comparison :-)

Hi all. My fzs600 has a full stainless system on it, un-named but has not for road use stamped on the can. sounds lovely and have no plans to change it out but for MOT time i was thinking of getting a standard can put on :P
will the standard link pipe and can fit to the stainless pipes? I know it might be a try it and see but don't want to buy one to find it doesn't fit
thanks

General / Tires...is it me?
« on: 08 September 2014, 09:17:00 pm »
Hey all just a wee query on longevity really. I see alot of peeps saying they get 10k plus on tires and wondered WTF am I doing wrong then. I put conti road attack 2 on the bike when I get her a couple months back and like them apart from wet where they have felt a bit slidy once or twice but nothing major...anywhoo with 2.5k miles done the rear is squared and cant see it lasting much beyond another 1k tbh. I use the bike to commute 40 miles a day some motorway the rest twisty and while i am no rossi i don't hang about either and finally have a bike with no chicken strips left :)
The road attacks are sposed to be sports tour type so was expecting more milage and will prob change to something else when I change em but I got a smaller capacity bike to save on stuff like this...I got more on my firestorm and that is a tire muncher! Am i too heavy  handed or just not good tire?

How the feck do you get that mileage from tires? If I get 5-6k from a rear I class that as good  :'(

« on: 25 June 2014, 10:04:37 pm »
changes the chain and sprockets on saturday.....considering they were supposed to have been done recently they were fecked!!

front sprocket hooked and looks like some muppet turned it round to increase milage use  :eek

now have x ring with nice new sprockets......what a difference already :)
apart from the pads being waffer thin (q monty python) bike looks ok. me and bike mechanic mate looked it over when i bought it and it seemed ok and chain n rear sprocket looked ok at the time too but hey ho

If I were you now I would be checking the bike over intensely just in case there are any other bodges.Stuff like that makes me paranoid.
At least now you know the chain and sprockets are good. :)

Worth checking head bearings too. Might have loosened off a bit with forks going in and out
The head bearing nut on top had somehow worked loose, few turns with a spanner and all is good again.
Thanks.
Woohoo I solved a problem for someone..... must treat myself to many beers  :lol

ok so how come the bulb for the left dipped beam is a weird thin thing and where do I get a new one from?

went to replace it as not working and was faced with 2 prong thin bulb in an x shaped holder thing. ebay only has standard bulbs so a bit lost unless i try a dealer?
ok so looking at the manwell helps....h1 bulb d'oh!
