New member, from Shetland

Hi all!

Passed my 'big bike' test three weeks ago, after putting it off for years, and just got my 'new' 1999 FZS600 home this morning!

Riding position is gonna take a little getting used to (very different to the NC700 I was learning on), and taking it easy till I do, but so happy to own my first 'proper' bike!

Up here in Shetland, we have some lovely roads, so hoping we get some weather to match!

Hey welcome to the forum! Congrats on passing your test!

I'm in Shetland too! Haha, not often we get Shetlanders on here.

I'm in Tingwall with a blue 02 600. Drop me a pm if you fancy a run some time  8)

Get some pics up!

Chris

It wouldn't be fun if it was easy, I just wish it wasn't this much fun.

Awesome! Bike is needing a good service before I can use it properly... Came off the ferry this morning and out for a run and the brakes are slightly scary! Been sitting for six months, before I bought it, which doesn't help.

Welcome onboard :)
Would love to try the Shetland roads,  but I'm stuck in mainland Scotland.
Give it a good once over and yes the brakes are a bit more than your used too :lol

Yeah, make sure and give it all a good once over. If you need a hand then give me a shout, Think I've got a spare set of front brake pads in the shed if yours are a bit done. Worth stripping and cleaning the brakes if you can, they're phenomenal when they're working right.

You planning any runs with the ZMCC?

This is a brilliant forum with loads of info and lots of active members so ask away if you have any questions, having said that, a good search usually brings up the answers you need so get stuck in  8)

Aye, cheers! Gonna get her in the garage tomorrow and strip the brakes and change the fluid.
Been lurking around the forums for a while, before I bought the bike and it's already giving me ideas (R1 front end...? Hmmm...)!

That's some lurking around if your thinking of doing that before you try it as is, especially since it's your first big bike :b

Got me back brakes sorted! Complete strip down, clean up and rebuild. One of the pistons was solid. Gonna do the same with the fronts. Some difference!
