Sounds like you don't really want a change of direction you just want to be doing more exploring and camping on your bike. Get a tent, sleeping bag etc and go for it

What do you do for a living the jobs in Cumbria are quite varied from industrial on the coasts to tourist based in the lakes

There is quite a difference 400 miles makes to the weather up here from what you've been used too.......its pissing down more, its colder and we have the foccin English as neighbours :rollin.......but that said the roads and scenery up here are second to none

There certainly is a massive difference in weather...and temperature. I have been in Stratford yesterday and today, and it might as well have been bloody Spain. Not even that nice of a day but it was well warm by our standards.
