Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Radiator guard screws
« on: 15 November 2015, 08:23:37 am »
Hi,

Recently acquired a fzs 1000, decided to get a nice radiator guard however the stock one which is held in with to bolts at the bottom is being a nightmare to take off. I've tried pretty much everything, greasing them, impacting them, but they still wont budge and just seem to worsen. Any tips to get them off?

FZS600 Fazer / Massive DOH!
« on: 12 June 2014, 01:44:51 pm »
Hello all,

Just rode the fazer round some beautiful bends, when I was stopped I noticed the left hand side of the engine was making a very small "ticking". Getting worried I decided to head back home, to be honest I thought it could be the cam chain, however upon me looking I noticed the HT lead was vibrating abit too much, I then looked and saw the spark plug had become loosened so it had a tiny amount of play in it. I did actually remove that spark plug a few days back but I made sure it was hand tight with a small turn with the spark plug socket, it had no play at all? I'm just waiting for the engine to cool down, then I'll tighten it up and hopefully that ticking will vanish......Massive fail moment  :rolleyes

Thanks for the reply, I did have a look on powerbronze but they don't seem to do them in red? Just black, white and carbon effect, is it a case of spraying it yourself?

FZS600 Fazer / Suggestions for radiator cover?
« on: 11 June 2014, 09:31:48 am »
Hi,

I'm after a radiator cover, so far this seems to be the best value one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/YAMAHA-FZS-FAZER-600-RADIATOR-GRILL-/231255358482?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item35d7e4bc12
However would you say its worth the extra £20 for the "fazer" version?

Many thanks

Doddsie,

Where did you get that from? I'm looking for a red bellypan and to be honest there rather tricky to source

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Is it time to change spark plugs?
« on: 09 June 2014, 02:29:07 pm »
I think they might be as the haynes manual say's CR9E's should be fitted, however it may well be its just an older version of spark plug, my fazer has tons of service history previously but I can't see a spark plug change, its crazy how long they can actually last!

FZS600 Fazer / Is it time to change spark plugs?
« on: 09 June 2014, 01:01:34 pm »
Hi Everyone,

I decided to have a look at my spark plugs as I don't think they've ever been changed, they are NGK CR8E and certainly look old, some have a small amount of rust on the bolt side of the spark plug. Is it worth replacing them or just leaving them until they give up? I've had no problems with them just to add.

FZS600 Fazer / FZS 600 Foxeye Lights
« on: 02 June 2014, 07:24:58 pm »
Hi,

I know the fox eye lights are pretty good as standard, however is there a way to give the lights are brighter effect? I was looking at adding some white led's for sidelights, mainly for the look's.

Any ideas on good easy ways to upgrade the lighting?

FZS600 Fazer / Re: FZS 600 vs Thundercat 600
« on: 28 May 2014, 10:15:53 pm »
Thanks for all the replies, certainly interesting to hear the responses, I only ask as I was looking at getting a fully faired bike instead of the fazer and was wondering whether the trade off would even be worth it because of some similarities. Heres some for the thundercat:

1. Cheap to insure (when compared to other fully faired 600's)
2. You know the brakes will be good
3. Looks sporty
4. More forgiving than a super sports bike

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Fitting Stainless Downpipes
« on: 23 May 2014, 01:25:20 pm »
Thanks, all went well considering I haven't done any exhaust replacements before, I did prep the exhaust bolts before to ensure they would come off nice and easy, they fitted easily and look much better!
Even though my fazer has low mileage and is in good condition, the orginal downpipes had some small holes in, so i'm glad to have replaced them. Only issue is the link pipe which stops the centre stand is slighty long and just misses the stopper! (Fine on the orginal downpipes) Other than that it went well!

FZS600 Fazer / Fitting Stainless Downpipes
« on: 21 May 2014, 06:56:29 pm »
Hi Everyone,

I picked up some downpipes and just want to clarify the fitting process as in all honesty I have not replaced downpipes before.
I have checked the exhaust bolts on my fazer and all are fine ie not seized or rusted, they can all be loosened as I have been greasing them prior to removal.
Also I am awaiting a new set of gaskets, is it a simply case of removing the old downpipes, fitting the new gaskets then re fitting the new downpipes (in a nut shell)

Thanks

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Fazer oil change
« on: 21 May 2014, 04:11:16 pm »
I also used halfords semi on my last oil change, can't fault it, theres alot of people saying this brand is the best and so on, however regular oil and filter changes at the right intervals is the best method, theres no need to purchase super expensive "racing" oil

FZS600 Fazer / Sharpening up the appearance of the Fazer!
« on: 17 May 2014, 09:39:59 pm »
Hi,

I'm looking to sharpen up the bike without going overboard! I have done some minor changes already:

1. Delkevic end can (mainly for sound purposes)
2. Wheel rim tape
3. Higher darkened screen
4. Anodised screen bolts

I have also just picked up some stainless downpipes for £40 from a t reg fazer, I'm hoping they fit my foxeye!
What are people's thoughts on:

1. Stainless radiator cover
2. Smaller indicators
3. Further decals

Any other suggestions to improve the bikes appearance?

FZS600 Fazer / FZS 600 vs Thundercat 600
« on: 14 May 2014, 09:29:58 pm »
Hi,

I'm aware the bikes are very similar but could anyone say the main differences apart from performance, I know the fairings are different but would a thundercat for example leave the fazer standing?

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Any ideas for a mirror change?
« on: 14 May 2014, 08:51:31 pm »
Haha some replies are intresting, I was just generally curious but after looking it would be inpratical to fit smaller ones, I also only just found out they fold in!   :eek
Which can help in small spaces!

FZS600 Fazer / Re: FZS 600 track riding and cornering

Thanks for the reply's!

Just a note I also don't don't knee downs everywhere, it was just a spur of the moment but I also agree that it makes little difference, I was following some knee down bikers and found I actually could pass them without getting my knee down.

Problem is my biking chums don't realise its a sports tourer and was never designed to set fast lap times! I do always have a chuckle at them however, supersports bikes but they can't be used for such on a public road

FZS600 Fazer / FZS 600 track riding and cornering
« on: 14 May 2014, 12:32:40 pm »
Hello everyone,

I'd just like to see if any one has done a track day on there fazer? I'm just intrested as for the fun of it me and a few other bikers went to a open car park the other day (which was empty and no obstacles near by)
and decided to see if we could do some knee down runs, now I was getting very low (the footpegs scrapped) but without knee sliders I couldn't really complete it, the other bikers on there super sports seem to be able to lean more with less effort, is this because the bikes are better suited for the task? I'm certainly looking at doing a track day on the fazer and would like to hear if anyone here has done one.

FZS600 Fazer / Any ideas for a mirror change?
« on: 09 May 2014, 10:18:28 pm »
Hi,

I have a foxeye 02 model, the mirrors have great sight but they do stick out quite far, I know i'm being fussy but I was hoping for a sleaker set of mirrors to aid filtering and just general look.

Any ideas?

Thanks
