Thanks for this, I'm pretty sure the top one of the two is the fazer one.

I'm on my 4th fazer and all but my latest one had issues with arcing, my current (geddit?) one isn't too bad at all. I've changed the caps on all 4 bikes and noticed an improvement when they are idling. The local Yamaha dealer used to fit jet ski plug caps as a matter of course when servicing them.

Cheers for doing this mate, much appreciated. I'm thinking you are right as it almost matches the one on the other end of the linkage rod.

The standard plug caps are shit, run your bike in a totally dark garage and look at the plug caps. They arc all over the place, they are so bad my local yammy dealer was changing them as a matter of course at service time.

Hi, can anyone tell me if either of the gear levers in the pics are from a fazer 1000?

For Sale & Wanted / Re: For sale : Front brake discs Gen1 1000
« on: 26 April 2018, 08:49:00 pm »
My original wheels were in to be powder coated, the guy decides to go on holiday and not tell me. I was about to to the NC500 although it wasn't called that back then, rather than miss my trip I bought the discs for a spare wheel I had and used them for about a fortnight until I got my original wheels back.
Needless to say I didn't use that particular company again.

Try riding the bike without the weights, I’ll be surprised if you notice much difference if at all! That’s been my experience, having said that some bikes vibrate more than others, I’m on my forth fazer and my second one vibrated like bast@rd! My current one is a beaut, really smooth.

For Sale & Wanted / For sale : Front brake discs Gen1 1000
« on: 26 April 2018, 11:56:25 am »
I have for sale a pair of front brake discs for a Gen1 1000. Made by Metal Gear, an Australian company, I bought them a few years ago and only used them for about 4-500 miles before I sold the bike. They have been stored in their boxes and are in near new condition, I have taken some pics to give an idea of condition.
They will need thoroughly degrease before use.
£100 including postage in the UK. No offers please.

Oberon used to do very heavy stainless end weights that didn't need the bars tapped, the just bolt in with an expanding bolt setup.
Personally, I've tried various setups with no difference in vibration at all. I'm currently using R&G weights that screw into the standard bars and I can't feel any difference in vibration.

I've been looking at this on my 05 bike I've just aquired, I'm not keen on loud pipes so I plan on keeping mine but remove the cat.
One thing I did notice is the cattery version of the silencer is about 2 pounds heavier. .

I'm looking for a standard Yamaha silencer from a 2001-3 bike as this doesn't have a cat, must be in mint condition.
Also looking for a wiring loom for an 04-05 bike, again must be in good condition.
If anyone can help please get in touch. I'm in Glasgow but am happy to pay for postage as well.
Cheers.
