Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Font engine mounting bolts - question:
« on: 07 March 2015, 12:28:52 pm »
Are these hi-tensile/strength bolts? I am asking because I would to replace them with ordinary Stainless-Steel items.

And the reason I want to do that is I want to mount the Yamaha crash bungs and I am not sure if the stock bolts are long enough to accommodate.

General / New Tax disc rules: DVLA incompetent, yet again.
« on: 27 August 2014, 05:39:49 pm »
How many people are aware of the new tax disc rules? I only found out 3 hrs ago.

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/vehicle-tax-changes

DVLA said it was "it was mentioned in the budget"... er, like everyone fucking watches or reads the budget... fuck-wits.

Here are 3 issues straight off the bat -

  • it wasn't mentioned anywhere near enough on other forms of media. If the dvla have known about this for a while, like say for over a year - they could have let me/others know the last time I taxed the bike...
  • what happens if say your buying a new bike on a Sunday and you don't have access to a post office, the internet or a phone. Assuming you have adequate ins. you then can't legally drive the bike.
  • As we all know government systems aren't the most reliable, what happens if both the dvla's automated phone service and website are down? Should we then have to wait for their shit arse system/s to come back up..? If someone is miles away from home its unreasonable to expect them to hang around before being able to tax the bike, FFS.

When I spoke to the dvla today, 2 of the 3 minions I spoke didn't know all the details listed on their own fucking website. WTF they could not just make the old system electronic, as in "the vehicle is taxed", like they do in other countries and not tied to the fucking owner is beyond me. Useless fucking c**ts.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / What make/model is this CNC lever?
« on: 04 July 2014, 01:47:35 pm »
Does anyone know what make/model the following lever is, its as the characters "AS-521" stamped on it but I can't find anything online that matches it. The critical thing is this one has a roller bearing under the adjuster cam and most others don't have this -

Due to getting some stone chip damage on Sunday (for which I am claiming of the local council for) I doing some research into the cost of replacement/re-painting.

1. Getting a Cactus-Composites pattern one £75-80 (and that assuming that fixed all the issue with it) and then colour-match painted £160, total £240
2. Who still does the original OEM BP..? are TCP in france still trading..?
3. Who does a genuine Carbon Fibre BP in the same shop as the OEM original BP..?

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Soften up the rear brake: its just to harsh
« on: 13 June 2014, 12:11:23 pm »
I'm finally fed up of the rear locking under braking, because my Bandit1200 dosen't do it nearly as much. Now that is probably partly to do with B12 being heavier, but also it has a lower spec rear caliper and is running an original hose on the back compared to the FZS which came with braided when I bought it.

Could I just put a high mileage stock hose on the back to soften the braking action..? along with the worst pads I can find..? What pads do people recommend?

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Aftermarket metal clutch plates.
« on: 09 August 2013, 10:27:01 am »
Morning

Looking to replace the metal plates in the clutch tomoz, genuine yamaha is £60 which is taking the piss, but found some barnett plates for £40 and another place selling other 3party plates.

What experience have others had of non genuine metal plates..?

Just found this on ebay by accident and thinking of getting it, due to the scorchio temperatures in the UK atm.

The stock fan is fine, and could be considered a bit noisy. As well as shifting more air, I wonder will it be quieter..

Thoughts, comments...

Off the top of your collective heads, which 3rd part cans out there have a nice noise but don't rob the torque from the bottom of the rev range..

That MTC can has been sent back because of the un-curable piff/paff noise but also because the missing torque
