For Sale & Wanted / Wanted: Grab handle/s for FZS1000
« on: 18 May 2019, 06:25:18 pm »
I only actually need the left hand rail (seat lock side) but will take the pait if need be. I have tried to find one online in the usual places to with no joy, so figured I would see if anyone on here has one.

It would be preferable to have it in DPBMC (in the UK I think that was on the 2004/2005 models) or galaxy blue (which was on the 2001/2002 models)

thanks.

For Sale & Wanted / Wanted: varios Parts for FZS1000
« on: 24 February 2019, 06:15:53 pm »
Before I go looking online I thought I would ask here first -
  • Adjustable brake and clutch lever set - pickup a set of ebay.
  • left hand rear grab rail or pair in 2005 blue, the actual colour is called 'Deep Blue purplish metallic cocktail', but R1 blue or the 2001 FZS1000 blue are close enough.
  • Gear lever, the one I got off a breakers while functional isnt upto snuff
  • pillion footpeg brackets - both of  mine are starting to showing significant salt corrosion.
  • font fairing loom, my bike was originally a US import and the very last conversion task is for the side lights.
  • r/h mirror - found 2x r/h mirrors in the spare room  :rolleyes

General / ULEZ and Euro 3
« on: 19 December 2018, 07:51:03 pm »
Does any one know if a motorcycle can be made to be Euro 3 compliant..?

I found this, but there is zero mention of motorcycles- https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/low-emission-zone/ways-to-meet-the-standards/fit-a-filter

104
Due the fucking ULEZ zone kicking in on April 2019, I need to upgrade my 2005 FZS1000 for something that's Euro 3 compliant. So Continuing the tradition of buying and selling my fazer's with fellow foccer's I would like to start looking for a replacement fazer from this community before looking anywhere else.

The FZ1 need to be 2007 or newer, I live in south herts so would prefer a bike that close, but will travel for the right bike. [update] it occurred to me that someone on here might want to swap plus cash for thier FZ1.

My FZS1000 -
(details in no particular order)
  • 2005, 36k, DPBMC blue in VGC for its age, (was originally purcghased from a fellow foccer from up in sheffield)
  • Came with full ivans kit, so has more midrang punch than a stock bike and nice top- end power (last time is got dyno'd I believe it was touching 130bhp at the rear wheel.)
  • Devilsyam, R6 shock  - still as sharp as the day it was fitted.
  • K-tech front springs and matching oil - as good as your going to get without changing the internals.
  • AIS removed (or if I didnt I have the kit for it that will do with the bike)
  • R&G frame, swingarm and fork sliders.
  • Original Yam colour matched belleypan
  • Colour matched hugger
  • adjustable and bendable clutch and brake lever (they bend up in spill, so you have half a chance of being able to ride the bike afterwards)
  • LED H4 headlight bulbs
  • LED indicator, rear and instrument bulbs.
  • Large Carbon Tank protector
  • Oxford Heated gribs w/relay to isolate them when the ignition is off.
  • Akropovic end can and link pipe.
  • Braided hoses on the front only, kept original on rear to take the sharpness out of it.
  • Meta M357 TV2 Alarm
  • Blind spot mirror on r/h mirror.
  • Brand new AGM battery (fitted a 09/03/19)
  • Toolkit
  • Brand new Avon 3D-XM's with less that 75 miles on (fitted 09/03/19)
  • C&S kits only has 1-2k on, looks looks as new.
  • Pads front and rear relatively new so have loads of meat left on them.
  • Tappets where checked and Plugs, Oil & filter changed at around 30k, air filter at around 20k I think.
  • Handlebar risers, give you a more sit up feel and better control and less hand ache.
  • BikeIT mini indicators and spacers (inside which i put LED bulbs)
  • Front fender extender.
  • LED bikeviz spot lights - coming down the motorway with these and the LED headlights -  people know I'm coming.
If I remember anything else that was fitted I will update the post.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Copies of the Yamaha crash mushrooms: group buy?
« on: 24 October 2018, 08:31:21 pm »
So as anyone who has been around fazer's for a while knows, getting the official yam accessories like the belly pan and yam branded crash bungs is next to impossible. So as I had low sided my fzs rescently I was just going get a new l/h side made up, but then I thought that maybe we could make this a forum thing and do a group buy and get a bunch of them done all at the same time.

Whats say you lot, anyone interested..?

General / Important: Check the wording of your breakdown cover
« on: 22 August 2018, 08:55:01 pm »
I had a low-side last week, and got told by the RAC/Bennetts that the breakdown cover would not recover me in the event of an accident, non-fault or otherwise.

I went ballistic at Bennetts as I was stuck at the side of the fucking road, wear only for the sheer luck - I was half a mile from my cousins garage that I was able to ride over there and leave the bike with him while I source parts. Had I been stuck out in the fucking middle of know where I would have had to paid upwards of £200 to get some no-name cunt recovery firm to recover me back home.

Everyone I have spoken to today has pretty much also said "what the fuck"...

For Sale & Wanted / Wanted: Parts for FZS1000 due to a lowside.
« on: 22 August 2018, 08:49:07 pm »

  • Headlight - all of the L/H mounts have gone on mine
  • Grab rails - would prefer them in 5LV blue
  • Riders foot pegs - pair, coz spares are handy
  • Crash bungs - in a similar style to the OEM yam ones, but will consider most makes
  • Fork/swingarm sliders - like the r&g ones.
  • Span adjustable levers - (brake and clutch)

For Sale & Wanted / Wanted: Front wheel for fzs1000 - any condition.
« on: 14 August 2018, 08:34:15 am »
Morning

I'm after a front wheel for a FZS1000 -
  • it can either be in poor/average condition but be physically sound and just need a repaint.
  • Or it must be in as new condition with no scratches, chips and corrosion.
I already have a spare rear that been painted, and now just need a matching front.

General / So some fuck tried steeling my lever covers...
« on: 30 May 2018, 06:16:55 pm »
So got back to the bike and found the one on my clutch lever almost all the way off and damaged, for what? a £5 fucking lever grip. Its most likely one of those little moped pricks, that has no respect adn deserves nothing more that to be kicked of his sorry excuse for a bike. I was so annoyed I did my usual 60min commute home in 45...

My only wish is that there is a camera pointed at that location...

111
I think this is a case of the clutch basket fingers needing filling, but in case it isn't I wanted to check here here for suggestions...

I have to have the clutch lever set so that it has next to no free play, having the default 3mm results in very hard to change gears on a semi regular basis. I notice that mostly when I am coming up to a set of lights..

And if it is the old "grooves in the basket" issue, is there a quick and clean way to do this with the backet still on the engine (as in with all the plates & hub removed) and all the spaces around the basket filled with rags to keep the metal fillings out.

or

Is there a 3rd party replacement for the clutch assy that dosen't cost a fortune..?

General / FAQ: ULEZ charge and how it effects you!
« on: 13 May 2018, 01:46:35 pm »
Summary

Like many others I have been aware of this Bull$hit for a while now, but as the new ULEZ (Ultra low emission zone) is coming into force by 8th April 2019 I thought I'd better check the status of both my bikes, a 2006 Bandit 1200 & 2005 Fazer 1000. Both bikes were were 'according to TFL" NO LONGER Euro 3 exempt.  I found all the relevant sites where you can put in your reg and it will tell you if your bike is exempt -
Getting your bike exempt/compliant

If you know your bike is Euro3 compliant but -
  • The date of registration is before 01st July 2007, TFL will consider it non-compliant.
  • The date is as above but the Exhaust Emission section is populated, then all you need to do is send a copy of the V5C to the ULEZ dept at TFL and they will then update the website to show it as compliant.(may not require having to create a TFL account so good).
  • But if the date is before 01/01/07 and the Exhaust Emission section is not-populated, then you can either request a letter of homologation from Yamaha stating the Euro3 status (I believe there is no charge for this, which is the route I am going down).
  • Or you can just pay the £75 to Yamaha to get a CoC if the bike is older than 2002 (Euro3 came in for motorcycles in 2002)
  • Honda don't charge for the CoC, while all the others do - Yamaha(£70), Kawasaki (TBC), Suzuki (£90).
  • An alternative (albeit scam) option, if you can't get a Euro3 status letter or a CoC, is to get it emissions (NOx) tested (see below)
Only testing center in London/Uk.
  • The owner has a family member who works inside TFL. This may or may not explain why -
    • This shop (Riverbank m/c) is only place with the ability to do the emissions test for ULEZ compliance.
    • The charge is £175 and is what most people would consider a scam.
  • If your bike fails the emissions test, RB m/c charge £75 to jam a catalytic convertor into the exhaust (link pipe) of carburetted vehicle.
    • As understand it, fitting a cat to a carburetted vehicle will at best last few months before the cat is useless, therefor fitting it would appear to be fraudulent?
    • The owner has been quoted as saying 'it doesn't matter, once the bike has passed the test you can just remove it'. I will leave the obvious conclusion to you the motorcyclist.
  • Here is a report of a Yamaha RD350 & TDR250 passing the above test, which shows ULEZ is basically a scam.

General / That bloody winter sun: DIY sunshield
« on: 28 December 2017, 06:16:18 pm »
So have done the electrical tape thing and got bored of the adhesive smearing away from the edge every time I cleaned the visor, so after a bunch of browsing and finding motorcycle specific products like sunax costing way to much for that they do I happened across this idea -

My thinking is I cut a strip 2-3cm from the fade side, and even though its a cling fit secure the ends with some cellotape. And then if the fade side dosent work try the other side.

114
So that old situation where gears selection is starting to become notchy and difficult to change means one of several things are happening.

My C & S a are due for a change along with the engine oil, but just in-case the fingers on the clutch basket are worn I would like to have a spare to swap out while I refurb mine if it needs it.

115
Afternoon

Just seeing if anyone has one on here before I hit ebay, I am after a rear brake disc for a FZS1000 in good condition (so straight and no ridging).

I am also after a set of disc bolts, having both of the above will make the job I have planned easier.

thanks

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / LED replacement bulbs for FZS1000
« on: 11 December 2016, 03:10:48 pm »
A few years ago I ordered a set of H4 LED bulbs, but found the light output far below the advertised spec. Fast forward to today where we are now on the 5th generation of H4 LED bulbs see here, so I hunted around online and found the same set at half the price -

They arrived and I fitted them today, I will take some more pics and a on-road review tomorrow after work.

For Sale & Wanted / Wanted: much bigger screen for my FZS1000
« on: 06 December 2016, 10:50:31 pm »
While my Bandit 1200 is in the shop getting some work done I am using the Fazer to get to work and the first thing I noticed was how usless evne the double bubble is compared to the big screen on the bandit.

So I am looking for a screen noticeably bigger than stock or even a touring screen.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Handlebar wobble at speed
« on: 30 November 2016, 10:27:33 pm »
Even though I have devileyam R6 shock fitted I am getting a wobble from the handle bars while accelerating at high speed.

Is there a relatively simple way to reduce or better, cure this without going down the steering damper route..?

For Sale & Wanted / Wanted: Cam cover for FZS1000 in black
« on: 08 October 2016, 07:34:03 pm »
Mine has started showing signs of corrosion, so I thought I would see if I could fine a good replacement in black before looking at going to down the route of getting it repainted.
