This is a very sobering video which I hope my family don't see or there will be pressure for me to give up my passion.
If this provokes anything it should be for all bikers to get some advanced training with IAM or ROSPA. They both use a system that teaches you to look much further ahead and keep you safe. Even if you don't take the test, learning the 'system' gives you a fighting chance of surviving numpty drivers.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Changing gearing by sprocket sizes
« on: 02 August 2014, 11:35:58 am »
I dropped one tooth on the front and added one tooth on the back. Improves acceleration, makes mpg slightly worse and for motorway speeds in top the revs are about 500rpm higher.

FZ6 / Fazer / Re: dual compound rear tyre - worth having ?

My pr3 on the back developed a stepped wear pattern on the sides after 2000 miles. Michelin said it was down to low pressure or soft suspension. Got a pr4 on the back now, hope it wears better or I'll ditch the pear for another make.

General / Re: Anyone do Volunteering?
« on: 17 May 2014, 06:54:11 pm »
I volunteer for Northumbria Blood Bikes. I thought since I give blood and I might need some in a hurry some time that I would put something back and add biking in the mix. The added bonus of riding a full liveried pan or fjr with optional blue lights helps too.
I have found the fundraising aspect quite fun, bag packing and manning a stand at shows and shop entrances. Meeting all sorts of interesting people, spreading the word, showing bikers in a good light. Very worth while.

36 front, solo and I am 16 1/2 stone. Also preload was up a couple of clicks on the rear shock from std as I used to be way heavier and I haven't took that off again yet.
Also the forks have been raised through the yokes by 10 mm.
This all felt fine last year but now I'm lighter it needs softening off at the back.

General / Squiffy rear end on my fazer 1000
« on: 31 March 2014, 05:30:01 pm »
Hi all, I was out yesterday and the rear end on my fazer felt a bit wayward. Might just be greasy roads but it's a pr3 tyre at 41 psi and plenty of tread.
When I got back I tried looking for worn bearings etc. The only play I found was in the shock linkage somewhere. When I lift the back of the swing arm up and down I have a slight movement. Is this normal. I replaced all the linkage bearings last year when I put the r6 shock and replacement dog bones on.

General / Re: N103 Pinlock Fogging Up
« on: 31 March 2014, 02:19:08 pm »
Run the corner of a piece of paper around it (I use a post it note). You should not be able to get the paper through the bead anywhere. If you can its not properly sealed.

Top idea.

My n103 never fogs up, it's one of the newer inserts with a silicone bead around the edge. My old one had no seal, it didn't fog up but it scratched my visor over time. Also I have always had issues with water dribbling down the inside, REALLY annoying.

I use copilot and find it works quite well, you can make a route with multiple waypoints and save it if you wish. No data or loss of signal issues. Sometimes you can download it free for a limited time and get a chance to try before you buy.  Also has camera locations and free app and map Updates.
