Had my tank at a chipsaway guy who does bike stuff. The first respray had a fault where the yamaha logo decals had some wrinkles in them under the lacquer. The guy bought new decals and tried again, however he has had the same issue. He is now giving me it back and washing his hands so back to square one.

Started in a factory as an engineer. 2 years later was on the dole. Worked in security for 12 years and did night classes for 7 of those. Till I had an hnc in electrical engineering. Worked as a mobile service engineer for 15 yrs now.
Always liked fixing things so suited me.
However the jobs changing now with targets for sales taking more priority.
Starting to feel it's time for a change but alot of other mobile service jobs have similar issues nowadays.

Maybe it's just that I fancied a bit more acceleration below 7000 revs. It don't like screaming the nuts off it even though I am able to.

You have the wrong idea.
Yes in top gear the revs are higher for a given speed but thats not the reason for the change.
Changing the gear ratio lowers the effort required to push the bike along so increases the acceleration at lower revs and lower gears. This gives better acceleration with the negative effect of higher revs at motorway speeds and poorer mpg.
It depends what you want to do with your bike. Cruise about or blast up and down the twisties.

I dropped 1 tooth on the front and raised 2 on the back.
It upped the revs at 70mph by about 500. I still get about 170 miles to a tank. Acceleration is better obviously.
It does send the speedo out of wack, you could make a mark on the speedo where the proper limits are but I got a speedo healer and adjusted that until my speedo matched my phone gps.
I got a gold x ring chain with renthal sprockets 'racing gearing' kit off ebay from a bike shop.
I asked them about changing both sprockets and they said 1 tooth off the front was like putting 3 on the back so putting 2 on the rear wasn't a big step.
I will see if I can find a link for the kit I got.
It was arracing-uk but they don't have a racing kit listed at the minute.

Hi all, any recommendations for tank resprays in tyne and wear.
I have had a tray of garden hand tools fall of a shelf on to my tank. Nightmare!!

Oh dear. I am considering 3 at the mo" looking at something with more weather protection.
FJR, TROPHY SE, K1600.
FJR is like a comfy lazy fazer ( so is it worth changing)
Trophy seems very big and,wide with very upright seating position ( maybe a step too far)
K1600 I haven't ridden but it sounds gorgeous ( need a test ride)
GTR1400 has been suggested but reviews aren't great.

If your wanting something less sporty to an fzs1000 then the fjr is like a longer lazier version of mk1.
