Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: fazer fzs parts
« on: 23 March 2024, 11:32:25 am »
I assume any parts that are N.L.A. from the likes of fowlers, as Yamaha now have no stock, are unavailable from Megazip, unless they have there own new old stock of course. Obviously they are listed on the parts lists whether available or not?

Agree totally with your comments, bought the magazine on the day it came out.  An honest and very good appraisal of the bike, only potential first time buyers of the Gen 1 Thou will learn anything from it, but good to see our steed getting some high profile press!

For Sale & Wanted / Wanted Gen 1 Fzs 1000 engine front mount cradle.
« on: 30 December 2023, 11:51:46 am »
Looking for a decent engine front bracket, in good condition, seen some on the bay but no better than my one! Just want to do one up, paint it etc  for a quick swap come the better weather, also not really got the room for leaving things dismantled for days.

Many thanks. Is original Hammerite a better product than the smoothrite version of their paint?

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Powder coating the engine mount?
« on: 06 December 2023, 05:54:11 pm »
Has anyone ever had their Gen 1 front lower engine mount/brace (the part that gets pelted with stones and crap in the middle, then goes rusty ☹️) shot blasted and powder coated? Obviously washers and bolts would be used to blank off where the bushings and rubbers are.  Bearing in mind the rubber inserts may be affected by the curing heat for the powder? Has anyone done this successfully?

Like many on here I do enjoy talking shite about my previous Foxeye and my present Gen 1,05, Thou. Against all better judgement l created a profile for Facebook which I f****** loathe, to try and join a Fazer group. I was declined as a scammer! ☹️ Yes the Facebook profile was vague because I don’t want to be arsed with people contacting me from years ago, I only want to access the Fazer groups! Any thoughts? P.s. As a self confessed ugly B******! I did not have my picture on Facebook when I joined, could this have something to do with it?

General / Re: Fzs 1000 Gen 1, or any Fazer lndicators?
« on: 27 October 2023, 12:49:06 am »
Just looked on YouTube at doing this! Bloody simple! Will do. Still 🤔  they are better placed on top of the cluster but must be an improvement! Many thanks indeed! 👍😉

General / Fzs 1000 Gen 1, or any Fazer lndicators?
« on: 25 October 2023, 12:47:03 am »
Does anyone else think our instrument cluster indication of the indicators being in use is shite? I am an old twat from the days of RD 250/400 and 350LCs,  Kawasaki triples etc. The yams, especially of that era had blindingly :lol  obvious flashing bright ones, self cancelling indicators as well, the LC especially as they were mounted very high on the cluster! I am forever forgetting to switch the Fazers indicators off!  It’s not a matter of if but when some arse pulls out in front of me! Only issue I have with the bike really. What do you think?

First! Get that alarm professionally removed if you are not confident at doing it yourself. Non standard alarms are a total waste of space and only hinder fault finding! Fact. End off!

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Centre stand
« on: 29 January 2023, 12:54:26 pm »
🤔 Just a note about sitting on the bike to push it off the centre stand, I have never done this as I am a bit short arsed! I was always told never to sit/put extra weight on the bike with the main stand down as this is what buckles and bends it, as it is only designed to take the weight of the bike, especially when rife with tin worm, which our bikes are famous for!😡  You should really consider use of the side or centre stand depending on how and where the bike is situated for ease of getting it off . So unless you are very long legged I would advise against this! Only my opinion, I’m sure the same as most of us vertically challenged stumpy twats!

« on: 23 January 2023, 11:39:07 am »
I believe what he is saying is the bike is very difficult to get onto the centre stand, hence the comment about the technique of doing so and the possibility of it being the wrong stand, as a Thou stand could be longer? It is the terminology of “stand up” and “stand down”,  stand up means in use. Different to what most of us here would say. I 🤔 so anyway.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Silent front sprocket?
« on: 07 January 2023, 06:47:19 pm »
I know it won’t need it with 12500 miles on my Gen 1 thou, but would I notice any improvement in smoothness, gear changes etc, by fitting one of these so called silent front sprockets. Don’t mind the work of fitting it, and they are relatively cheap, no issues at all with how the bike runs etc. I’m sure there will be a good bit of experience of these being fitted on the forum. Thanks.

« on: 18 December 2022, 07:26:11 pm »
Hmmmm…… The product seems good, but!   Call me suspicious, the first review is about fitting to  a Gen 1, it mentions a plug (fine) and two wires…… ?  No mention of connectors or fittings on these!  I am not using scotchlocks, soldering or splicing as they call it!  The pictures do not show the cable end plug/wires/connectors to know what you are expected to do with them?  I simply cannot be arsed ordering stuff only to send it back!

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Digital gear indicator Gen 1 ?
« on: 18 December 2022, 12:54:14 am »
I simply want to purchase a digital gear indicator that is a plug and play device, if it exists? Something with clear and concise instructions on how to fit it to a Gen 1. Or a link to a video that shows exactly how it should be done, any cutting into the loom or crap like that is a definite no no! Any recommendations or advice gratefully received as I am sick hunting for the elusive seventh gear.  Many thanks.

Like the idea of the cable inner replacement, not a lot of pressure on these cables, unlike a clutch cable for example, so should be a good repair! Didn’t know about that! 😉

19
If you notice on the Yambits cable the printed prefix for the part number is 5VL rather than the Yamaha correct 5LV!  The internet (eBay) is full of different people or company’s selling these cables with the wrong prefix. Obviously one manufacturing company is churning these out and dozens of different people are selling the same thing! If you do buy one buy the cheapest, as they are almost certainly exactly the same, good or bad!

« on: 03 September 2022, 09:09:31 pm »
i own a 2004 FZS 1000, question is are the wheels originally finished in satin black or gloss, or a form of jap bike semi -gloss black I've heard of, a sort of mid way between the two?  P.S. that last bit could be bullshit someone has told me.  :rolleyes

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Bleeding rear brake, no can do!
« on: 14 August 2022, 06:11:59 pm »
NOW SORTED! :wall  Bent disc!!!!!! After trying to get the bead broken on my rear tyre, nightmare!  I decided to take it to a tyre dealer to have it removed. After gouging the alloy wheel they said they would repair and paint it, leave the tyre off I said and l would fit it myself for obvious reasons!  It returned with the now bent!!!! Disc removed after repair and paint, a very average job at best! Fitted the tyre and disc then the brake issue appeared! Turns out I could not remove the original tyre due to some detrimental injected shit like a tyre weld puncture repair type stuff which caused a combination of corrosion to the wheel inner, a white hard powdery stuff and black really sticky tar type stuff! P.S. It was not a motorcycle tyre dealer that did this! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!  :'( P.s. This place was run and staffed by morons!
