Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Higher bars
« on: 03 April 2022, 01:24:02 pm »
Update.....just had first ride since fitting the risers, much improved comfort, I'll be keeping them but also I have had the seat altered by a local upholsterer, it was killing my arse, he cut away a portion of the riders section and replaced it with about 1" of softer foam, the blue stuff, best £45 I've spent, I also bought a Corbin seat which I have yet to try but I'm very happy with the altered seat, I was considering selling and getting a BMW but no longer.

They were fine, no issues fitting them, cut the cable ties, fitted risers, new cable ties, job done.

Can anyone recommend which bars to use for a more upright riding position ?, standard at present but I'd prefer slightly higher.

Many recommend Renthal 758 as an improvement on the Gen 1 Fazer 1000...can anyone advise ? are they lower or higher than standard ? Thank you.

2008 onwards, with the combined compression adjuster at the top (blue inner, gold outer).  Avoid the 2006-07 version with two separate compression adjusters
Cheers

I've been looking for a more comfortable seat for ages so thought I'd try an Airhawk and it's wonderful, after much fiddling about I find it's best with very little air in it. I could only manage about 20 miles previously but last week did 100 with no discomfort....well worth a try just don't put too much air in.

Fazer 1000 Corbin seat, straight swap for the original, very good condition.
It has one tiny split at the rear, only noticed it when I was inspecting the condition, never noticed it on the bike.
Price £100 including post.

Madstad touring screen, by far the best touring screen for the fazer1000. No major scratches or gouges, few polishing scratches like all screens. I think new these are @£250. Includes longer fixing bolts because of the extra weight of the screen.
Price £105 including post

I can do both for £200 including post or knock a tenner off if you can collect  ;)

If your interested in collection I’m in Northumberland, cash, PayPal or bank transfer for payment.

I’m heading down to Mallory park next Saturday so can drop these off to anybody whose near the M1  :)
Do you still have the seat ??

I'd like to raise the bars a small amount, what's the best way, risers or different bars ? Renthall do several types but which bar will give a small raise ?

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / '04 Fazer 1000 clutch
« on: 28 May 2017, 05:14:51 pm »

Just got back from a ride and noticed the clutch felt odd, pulling the lever it feels like a two stage trigger on a gun with a very definite change half way through the travel, it's not the lever as I pushed the lever on the clutch cover and the same can be felt, any ideas before I pull it to bits ?

Longest in one day is 435 miles from Ullapool to Durham on a Honda Blackbird through all weather, had an arse like a blood orange when I got home.

Value depends on the exact model, there's dozens of versions.

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Bar end removal
« on: 05 July 2016, 07:08:07 pm »
If they are the standard Fazer ones they just screw out but don't bother with the allen socket, mine has Torx, I wrapped a cloth around the bar end and used mole grips to unscrew it.

On a similar vein to the insurance issues...we are with Scottish Power for gas & elec. and our elec meter recently went mad so my wife rang them to sort out the readings...after this was done she asked if they could offer us a better deal, less than two minutes later he comes back with, "how about £30 pm less ?".Why the f..k couldn't they do this in the first place ? moral of the tale..question every bill these days ,these people are doing as they please.
