Just had a buddy tell me that he had a K&N oil filter let go and leak oil all over the bottom of the bike and his rear tyre on a trip to Europe. So then did a search online for "exploding K&N oil filter" and there is page after page of results, but here are some examples with images -
There was a class action lawsuit in 2020 against them -Looks like it effected the following filters - KN-138, KN-204 & KN-303 (This fits the FZS1000 & FZ1). They list the KN-147 for the FZS600, but other searching show the KN-303 also fits.

Yep that's my old FZS, I recognise the spot lights and some of the marks on the bike. The first image is when I bought it, and the second was just before I sold it. Loved that bike, was stupid fast. Only reason I sold it was because I wanted something newer and because in part ULEZ.

That topbox looks a wee bit overloaded though, I am fairing sure it would make the front end skittish on the motorway. Anyway what part of the UK are you in, Im down south just of the M25. Im around if you have any questions or need any help.

Very noice mista, I have the exact same colour FZ1.

on a different note, Id be wary of those frame mounted frame sliders, hit them the wrong way in a drop and they will snap the frame mount clean off...!

It might be a week or so, I need a dry day (I have no garage) and I am away next week (school half term).(I do already have a genuine gasket for when I get to it)
Here is a good video guide to replacing the rotor -

Good conversation thread - I think that you are right. The RMSTATOR item does look better than the eBay / Amazon items.  Additionally, the captive shield covering the magnets runs all the way to the back plate same as the OEM upgrade part whereas the cheaper ones stop short.
I spotted that also, and forgot to mention it.

Your welcome fella.

Oh and visually looking at the amazon items, the qaulity of the cast doesn't appear to be of the same quality as the motoelectrical ones.

- - this one on closer inspection does not looks the same as ME one, look at the bottom of the casting
- - there are defects through out the casting
- - this is just using the same image as the one above it, so same casting issues.

for the extra £40 I would buy the ME one, it also comes with a 1yr warranty that the amazon ones do not. Plus do you really want some unbranded part exploding in your engine..?

For roughly the same money you can get the same thing but from a reputable company  - They also do upgraded generators and reg/recs.

The issue was thhose 3 amazon listing is there is no feedback at all, so you dont know if the seller/s are trustworthy.

However, they do cost an arm and a leg :lol
I also use the Avon 3DXM and am happy to recommend them I find that their profile gives great stability and confidence at all lean angles. Bridgestone's. The Caveats are that I'm so happy with the Avons I have had no reason to try any other tyre.
Same last 2 bikes had them also.

I run Avon 3DXM's on My Fazer and my bandit, good grip, predictable and don't cost and arm and leg.

General / Notice for riders in Lewisham!
« on: 07 October 2021, 08:19:12 pm »

The Lewisham M/C parking charges consultation is closing on 1 November.

As there isn't much time yet could you please all promote and share it as much as possible? E.g in any forums/facebook groups you happen to be part of. Below is the text from Save London Motorcycling and the link to the consultation should you need it:

Lewisham Council have announced plans to bring in parking charges for motorcycles. We are going to do everything we can to fight these proposals, but we need your help.

The main proposals are:

  • Up to £125 per year for residents parking
  • Up to £625 per year for a business pass
  • NO daily/weekly pass available for commuters

You can let them know what you think by responding to the consultation here  -

Respond now The deadline is the 1st November. And the points you want to make can be copped from here -

  • The charges are too high and will price many motorcyclists out of working in the borough
  • The fact that there is no daily pass will make commuting impossible for many who work in the borough
  • Motorcycles take up far less space when parked and this is not reflected in the charges
  • Motorcycles are part of the solution to climate change, air quality and congestion
  • The charges are not proportionate based on the impact of motorcycles on climate change and air quality

Someone will correct me if Im wrong but, that looks like Devilsyam main bike before he passed. His family must be selling it on, what i don't understand is why they didnt come on the forum and offer it here first. That bike is a part of FOC-U history.

Regarding the price, while it is a very trick bike with single sided swing arm and rim disc brake, as @Gnasher would say these trick bits do not increase the value of the bike if they are replacing existing parts. A 2001/25k FZS in good condition goes for £2000-2600. So this dealer is essentially asking £3600 for custom front and read ends, and some other parts on a bike that is in average condition, in fact it needs a proper valet which the dealer or the actual owner should have done before putting it up for sale.

To follow on from what the others have said, sell the bike as is for spare or repair or as a fixup project. Lots of people like building bikes in thier spare time.

For those keen to take over but concerned around the fees (circa £130PA) perhaps going back to the old model of Community Chest contributions covering hosting and registration would help?
This seems like viable solution, like a lot of people I am very tight financially so could donate a few months worth.

I personally would go the whole hog and replace the headlight bulbs with LED and then link them of the same feed.
