I like the OE ones on my 1200RT.  The heated seat is nice too :-))

Nope!  Never displayed them anyway.  They are all neatly filed away with the rest of my bikes documents.

The Fazer 1000 is still a difficult bike to beat - even more so now that values are where they are.  I have looked at other bikes but there is nothing out there that tempts me.

I have had one on my FZS1000 for a couple of years and it is still fine.  Starts the bike first time.  Impressive considering its not even on a trickle charger as I have no power in my garage.

I have no idea but why not take your old stand off and take it to a breakers.  That way you can compare it to the stands from other models to see if you can find a match.

« on: 17 July 2014, 01:28:44 pm »
I was replacing lesser batteries every two years or so until I got a Motobatt.  I took some of the claims with a pinch of salt but it's been in there for three years now and always starts the bike first prod of the button.  The bike doesn't get ridden daily (I have two motorcycles and a car) and I have not even had to charge it.

It would be interesting to see further details of the incident.  Either way, the sentence does not reflect seriousness of her actions.  I am also of the opinion that sentencing should be harder on those who show no remorse for their actions - particularly when the loss of life is a consequence.

« on: 04 July 2014, 11:39:29 am »
Givi kit isn't cheap for a reason - it's extremely good.  In the long run it is economical because it lasts forever and you can transfer it when you change bikes just by getting the relevant fitting kit for your new machine.
If you want to keep the cost down look for used Givi kit on somewhere like Ebay.  You can't beat it.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / A horny question
« on: 01 July 2014, 11:53:39 am »
A couple of months back I was riding my 1200RT on the M25 when a 4x4 pulled into my lane.  Needless to say without making any attempt see if there was actually a gap for them to move into.  I used my horn but, as with most O/E units it was nowhere near loud enough.  So I decided to get a couple of Fiamm Mini Blasters - one for the RT and one for Fazer.  Fitting the unit to the RT was easy as there are acres of space behind the fairing.  However, having has a look at the Fazer yesterday the new horn will not fit on the bracket where the original is mounted as it is too big and fouls the fairing when the bars a turned.
Has anyone fitted one of these to their FZS1000?  If so, where did you mount it?

Interesting debate.  I had a crack at the IAM and although I was unable to reach test standard gained a lot from it.  It would be interesting to have a session with a RoSPA instructor to see how the two differ.

The broker I was with last year wanted an increase of around 40% for this year.  I ended up switching brokers and getting coverage for a few quid cheaper than last year - with the same underwriter!!!  You have to play the game every year to make sure that you are not paying over the odds.

Using hazards when filtering is common on the continent and I often see it.  Seems like a good idea to me.

General / Re: why spend 5 times more money on Givi luggage
« on: 15 May 2014, 04:56:58 pm »
I see Givi as an investment.  It is extremely well made, last forever and - importantly - waterproof.  As you change your bike all you need is the fitting kit for your new machine. Worth the extra money - you bet it is!!

« on: 07 May 2014, 01:29:00 pm »
I personally believe that political correctness has gone way too far - in fact so far that it has made me a fan of anti-political correctness.  The areas of life impacted by this pointless drivel are astounding and I for one am happy to rebel against it.
As for Clarkson, let's face it, he makes his living from this type of reputation and recent events will do him no harm whatsoever.  I don't agree with all of his opinions but I applaud the irreverent manner in which he expresses them and find much of it hilarious.

General / Re: reporting a driver
« on: 30 April 2014, 10:59:09 am »
Sorry to hear about your accident.
One interesting question would be - if the footage was given to your insurers would you and the other driver involved be able to establish that he caused the accident and therefore claim against his insurance?  If course, the standard position of the insurance companies is likely to be that she ran into the back of you and is therefore responsible.  However, I wonder what case you could make against him as the cause of the accident.
