FZS600 Fazer / Re: FZS 600 Carb Rubbers
« on: 23 September 2019, 06:33:57 am »
I'm edging more and more to OEM.  Looked on Fowlers but it seems that they want just shy of £80 a pair.  They have the inner ones listed under a separate part number to the outer ones.

Found some on Yambits for a good price.  Are Yambits trustworthy, anyone used them?

@redmandan  That seems to be the main complaint (I've also asked on the FB group).  That does concern me.

@TOM VR45 - Oh trust me, this will be a garage job.  My DIY skill level on the bike is low, and when I do step over my line, this forum gets filled up with tales of woe and much piss taking from Foccers  :rollin :rollin

Hi All,

Has anyone on here purchased those cheap carb rubbers off Ebay?  If so, how did you get on, are they worth the money or is it best to just swallow £70 for ones from Fowlers etc?

Cheers

Hi All, just dipping my toe in the water to see what is about.

Is anyone selling am FZS 600 Fox eye?  Preferably red, or yellow.  Blue owners need not reply, I couldn't stand the ribbing off the LOFOs  :rollin

I should add, I'm in Kent, I'm willing to travel a bit but places like Scotland and Cornwall could be too far  :b

Cheers in advance.

PLugs were fine, gaps were fine.  really really odd.

Wouldn't fire at all, and then, the more I turned it over (in between changing the plugs from new to old to new) the more it wanted to catch and then it went.  It's been spot on since.  Never had that, no focing  idea what happened.

Ignore this.  Problem "solved"

I looked inside each hole where the plugs go and couldn't see anything significant.

Took old plugs back out, put new ones back in.  Double checked HT leads were seated at both ends and all ok.

Car was really sluggish to start, but there was a hint of it wanting to go.  Then, after some reluctance, off it went.  Seems ok now.

I think tomorrow I'll change the HT leads, just in case one is faulty.

Really bizarre.

I did end up calling it a foccing bastard when it wouldn't fire.  Maybe that fixed it.  :D

Hi All,

I changed the plugs on my 55 plate Fiesta today.  I blew out the area with an air duster and then removed the plugs.  Replaced with new and all I get is the starter motor noise, not even a hint of the car firing.

When I took the plugs out they were very rusty around the top of the thread.  I'm wondering if a ton of rust has been dislodged and fallen into where the plug screws in.

Other than a tiny hoover, is there any method to get bits out?  I'm thinking maybe a long swap with something wet to help "grab" the bits.  but what kind of wet should I use?

I've not changed anything else today, so god knows why it won't fire.

I should add, I've cleaned up the old plugs and put them back.  Same thing.  So it's not the new plugs.

Ta :-)

Enjoyed the rather spirited ride on Sunday, lets not leave it so long before the next one  :D :D

Sounds like it was a good job I couldn't make that one.  I reckon I would have still been around Tonbridge as you mad lot arrived in Rye LOL

And no, Mr Red, I won't be doing it myself!  I'm not giving you more things to laugh at on here.  :rollin

Perfect, thank you.  That was my thoughts.  Keeps everything even then when it comes to breaking etc.

Just nice to have it confirmed.

Do I?

Always the kill switch for me.  No idea why, just habbit and something I've always done.  Probably stems from when I was commuting on the bike and using the kill switch meant the lights were still on and I could see to get the bike in the garage.

Richard Tindall is your man for blue spots for the FZS600.  He sets them up so they are ready to fit.  If you go on the foc-u facebook group and tag him he'll reply to your requests.

« on: 09 April 2019, 07:02:28 am »
I've just put all my cars into the checker and I'm confused:

04 plate Skoda Octavia 1.9 Tdi doesn't pass (but I didn't expect it to).
our "new" 11 plate Skoda Octavia 1.6 Tdi doesn't pass (I expected it to)
My 55 plate 1.4 Ford Fiesta passes.

Now this is the bit that REALLY confuses me

I thought road tax is now based on emmissions:

The 11 plate Skoda is only £30 a year (bargain!) So, that's chucking out low emmitions, yeah?  But still fails ULEZ
The 04 plate Skoda was £125 a year so not so good, I get why it would not be included in ULEZ
The 55 plate Fiesta costs me £145 and the most expensive car in terms of tax and yet passes

WTF???

My cars don't pollute according to tax but do according to ULEZ!

Potty!

If we don't want to be rushing to get fish and chips, I reckon leave mine at 11?  That means an hour (ish) get to Whitstable and an hour to eat fish and chips and some wiggle room built in, cos let's face it, the LOFOs need wiggle room LOL

So, meet at mine anytime after 10.30

Meeting at mine is cool.  We did it 2 years ago.  It was fab seeing all the bikes in the close.

A big yes to fishes and chippies.  So, aim to get to Whitstable for 12 to 12.30?  Fish and Chips then on to the star of the run for a wander round the bikes all ready for the off.

Mr Crazy, if you're still up for it, do you know my address?  If not, I'll PM you.

I forget where you are all coming from.  Where's a good, central ish place for us to meet up first?

Happy to meet at mine, in Sittingbourne if people can get here.

A potential route from here could be B2163 from Sittingbourne, through Bredgar to Hollingbourne.  Then A20 to Charing.  From there, up Charing Hill to Challock and down "Dazza's Fave Road" as I call it (A252) towards Chilham.  Then possibly through Canterbury to hook up with the A290 to Whitstable on the other side.

Just an idea.

Morning Foccers,

I'm off to the Whitstable Egg Run next Sunday.  Was thinking of taking a slightly more scenic route down there from my place in Sittingbourne.

The poster says meet anytime from 12.00 and then the run starts at 2.00pm from the Tankerton Road Car Park, CT5 2AS.

We then head to Orchard School in Canterbury.  Don't forget your egg.

If anyone is about you would be more than welcome.

Treated her to a proper service, rather than me just trying to bodge it (I had some spare sheckles at last).  And she passed her MOT too  :) :) :) :)

I've been riding for about 10 years now, one year on a CBF125 prior to my test.  Passed my test and bought a FZS600.  Unfortunatly I broke that one, so I went and bought another, same spec and colour.  The FZS600 is the only big bike I've ridden and I can't see why I would want to change it.
