Honda CG Model Identification Help
« on: 20 July 2014, 06:06:12 pm »
Hi, wondering if you can help identify this Honda:

http://martynsmotorcycles.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/PB062587.jpg

It's 2001 registered, has no starter motor (kick only), and is the older looking square headlight.

Just trying to figure out which version it is so I can order spares (PS, that's not a photo of mine but same model).

THanks,

Aye, only 4 gears but does 60 comfortably. Any idea which model it will be listed as on WeMoto though?

It's wor lasses - she did her CBT last week and wanted a 125 - I've introduced her to the fabulous world of biking (and it only cost me £160 off a mate - local shop had one advertised for £650 - may be far better bikes but it is quite fun to ride, she likes it, and I can't see us getting anything better for such a lowly sum)

Cheers, sure it's W model but need to check.

Just general service stuff (oil, filters etc) and a new exhaust. It's the exhaust that I need to know is going to fit as don't want to pull out £60 for something that is wrong.

Just took the seat off and it has sticker as cg125s - we too don't list an 's' model, so just emailed David silver spares to see what they suggest.

It looks like an 80's or at best 90's model. I am leaning towards 90's as it is CDI (if the side panel is original) but still has drum brakes.
A bit of googling says it could be a 2001 though.

Over its lifetime, the CG125 has received numerous enhancements and tweaks:
The electrics were upgraded from 6 V to 12 V (1985 in UK)
The old contact breakers were replaced by electronic ignition (1995 in UK).
An electric start was added in 2001, originally alongside the original kick start and replacing it completely in 2004 (in the European Market).

2004 saw a number of further changes in the European market:
The front drum brake was replaced by a disc brake
A new instrument cluster, including a fuel gauge for the first time, replaced the old square unit.
The fuel capacity was increased from 12 litres (2.6 imp gal; 3.2 US gal) to 13 litres (2.9 imp gal; 3.4 US gal)
The styling was modernised
The chain casing was dropped in favour of a simpler chain guard
Another ex-Fazer rider that is a foccer again
