Hi All
im restoring my 99 Fazer, everything is going to plan, i have one missing link, decent silicone hoses. I cannot find anybody that makes a kit for the mk1 fazy, i got in touch with Samco Sport. A nice chap let me know that if could get the interest of 25 people they would consider making a kit.
so anybody interested?
-
I'd be interested, was there a price mentioned?
There was a group buy before, if you find the thread you might find other willing buyers.
-
There is another thread about this started just about a week ago.
-
Her ya go: http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,21630.0.html (http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,21630.0.html)
-
I'd be interested whichever post it's on
-
Hey,
Here is the thread about the group buy we did a few years ago - http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,6189.0.html (http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,6189.0.html)
SFS performance said they would do another run of hoses if we got 10 people, they already have the tooling to make the hoses to the right shape so would probably be easier to get them to do it rather than samco.
All the best.

Are SFS still in business? Tefer tried phoning them last year and got no answer. I just tried a message on the contact section on their website and it came up with an error message. The last entry in the News bit on the site is from 2012
-
Oh right...
No idea, I've not needed to speak to them since the end of the group buy a few years ago so not sure.
Samco might be your best bet then :)
I don't want to put anyone off the idea but it took a lot of planning and time to organise the group buy and that was just for 11 of us so finding 25 folk who would be wanting to, and willing to pay for, the kits might be quite a task.

Is it not this lot? It does say they have moved, but also says 2017 at the bottom?

-
Had a look on line and it looks like they are now in the business market and not doing automotive retail www.sfsgrp.com (http://www.sfsgrp.com) but might be worth an email to them.
I see they have the same phone number but Tefer might have tried their old email address and not phoned
-
a price might help people decide you did ask did you not
-
Asked if they can still do them, how many they need ordered to do a batch and estimated of cost
-
Wow What a response, thanks guys, obviously i'm in the right place!
so we have interest, thats a good start, i'm going to get back to my contact at Samco and see if he can give me some price estimates.
as for SFS if they still have the required tooling and they are still trading then it's a no brainier, if i get chance this week i will give them a call
-
Hi. Can they ship to Denmark?
-
If they won't send them direct someone here will send them on to you
-
I've heard back from SFS and they say they will still make the FZS600 kits and 25% discount for FOC-U members.
But...
The reference number the guy gave me is showing on their website for the FZ6 05-07 so I'm going back to him to check if it is the right kit.
-
Good man Jules :D
-
Does anyone that was involved in the earlier group buy still have any details about it that might have reference or kit numbers on it?
I think it was done on the old forum so does anyone know where that is and can search it for any details?
-
I posted the link to the original group buy thread in reply number 5 of this thread. All the info from the original group buy is in there.
I was the one who set up the group buy and have checked all my emails with sfs and we weren't given any specific reference number for the kits. Be very careful not to get the kits for the FZ6 as it is a completely different engine and set up.

I'd definitely be interested in a kit, as my resto is also crying out for some nice new hoses.

Sorry I misread what that link was for
Lots of useful details in there and got the date and name so should help SFS track down the details if they still got them
-
No worries Jules-C 8)
Sorry I can't be more help.
I did try and set up another group buy not long after the original one. Thread for that is here: http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,12648.msg142584.html#msg142584 (http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,12648.msg142584.html#msg142584)
You might be able to pm the folk that were interested in that one to see if they are still interested, might help get the numbers up a bit. I tried to get folk from other websites to join up too but got no interest from other forums so wouldn't waste your time, this is by far the most active forum, the others very rarely got replies.

Stick my name down on list, I'd be interested in a set.

definitely interested price permitting

Heres the latest from Samco:
As previously mentioned, it is possible for us to introduce new kits to the SamcoSport range and if you think there is a market for the Fazer hoses, then I will explain.
The factory would need to see the OEM hoses in order to be able to produce a quotation for the tooling and hose kit itself, and from their calculations, they would work out what their minimum number of kits to produce to be economically viable – This is usually around the 15-20 kit mark. Each tool to make the hoses costs between £125 and £500, so as you can see, the initial costs for the factory is quite high. It takes around 10-14 days to get a quotation from the Factory.
Once an RRP selling price for the hose set is calculated, we can then (if required) list the new kit on our website for pre-order and arrange a discount code that can be used for interested parties if the idea was to sell these to an owners club or internet forum. If your idea was more to help friends or colleagues with Fazers , then possibly you could place the order and then we can offer you a discount for re-sale?
Unfortunately it is not possible for the factory to estimate the tooling or hose cost without seeing the OEM hoses first and therefore we only recommend that people send OEM hoses into us if they believe there is good sales potential. The hose price naturally depends on the size, shape and complexity of the hoses, the more multi-branch (Y shaped) hoses, the more complicated to build and therefore the more expensive the kit will be.
If we manage to get the minimum number of pre-orders, then the tooling is made (4 weeks) and the first set of hoses is produced (4 weeks) and sent to the person that sent in the OEM hoses for trial fitting. Once the trial fit kit has been approved, then the kits can enter into full production, be added to the application list and are available for all dealers to buy thereafter.
The trial kit hose set can be made in any colour and will be supplied free of charge, including stainless steel hose clamps and delivery. This is in return for your efforts and please note that the factory needs to retain the OEM hoses as a permanent template.
Pricing is always the number one question and the most difficult to answer! Please give this some thought and thanks again for your enquiry.
Im happy to send them my oem hosses, they have only seen dry weather of 10,000 miles so they should be a good template.
Seems the best otion is for me to purchse 25 or so kits and pay for the tooling then resel with the price of the tooling split over the 25 sets.
What are your guys thoughts?
Anxious to here back from sfs, if they have the tooling then we can all save the tooling costs.

I don't believe there's any Y shaped hoses, so the set shouldn't be too crazy priced.
FWIW diagrams of hoses are here:

Are you really up for buying 25 sets to resell? Probably talking about £5k...

Oh Shit! That is £200 for a set of hoses plus postage i would guess
-
If they can make them for a realistic price I'd be up for a set.
I'd need red for a fast one if there's colour options ;)
-
I'm interested in a set.
-
I'd also be interested, as the bike needs a coolant change and would be a good time to change the hoses. PM me if this can be sorted please.
-
Hi I'd be right up for a set, you can pit my name in the hat, keep us updated with progress.
-
Just came across this thread in my search for new hoses for a streetfighter build I'm in the middle of. This would be perfect if it goes ahead. So put me down for a set too.
-
Interested too!
-
old thread nothing ever came of it
