Doesnt go over 160km/h
« on: 07 September 2014, 01:45:06 pm »
Hello people. So i recently bought a FZS600 (2months ago). And my fazer doesnt seem to go over 160km/h. I can accelerate with 2nd gear to ~170 km/h , but when i go in 3rd, the speed stays the same and slowly drops. And i believe the power isnt as it should be :( . It has 25 kW writen in the paper thingy, not sure how to  call it in english. Any ideas? The carbs didnt have Diaphragms in them , when i put them in it was running too rich even after setting the fuel amount by default ( mechanics manual). So i had to lower the needle to 2nd gap.And by default fuel amount intake it`s better now, but still doesnt seem to go over 170km/h.

It means it is restricted, look between the carb rubbers and cylinder there will be big washers with holes in them take them out

Nasty looking washers mate. F**k them off and bung a k and n air filter on the bike while you're at it. +1 to what paulfzs said.

Thanks, it was restricted yeah to 33bhp..Washers werent there. Found out in a older topic where it doesnt go over 8rpm in 6th and stays the same speed , that the Needles might be different from the original ones.Going to check it out tomorrow.Or maybe now.

Yeah i did check them.Werent there. Maybe any1 can tell me what`s written on your needles ( upper carb part where diaphragms are) Mines has 5D92 , not sure if the needle is right. Cant get any1 to show me the proper one, maybe it`s restricted with the needle as it was said in some ealrier topic.

Hi egidijs....welcome to the forum, just checked the yamaha service information book and it says jet needle should be 5D86....this could be where your bike is restricted...
One, is never going to be enough.....

Me again....just been digging for more info....you do indeed have the restricted jet needles.to confirm this there should also be a metal plate beneath the diaphram, fits over the flat part of the slider....to regain full power you need to fit the correct needle ,5D86, remove the metal plate and also fit the correct spring, the one you have will be a bit stiffer....might be worth posting a wanted ad in the for sale section to see if anyone has the parts.......

I might get a hand of 3 needles ( i know a person who might have em) well as for the springs, just cut down some rolls heh..or i`ll ask him for them too .Might just figure something out.

There was a metal plate (which i removed) , there were no diaphragms for the starters ( which i got now) but the power didnt change ,maybe slightly. So now we found out about the needles..I might get the proper spirngs also.

You might have to change the height of the needle as well.....cant remember what they should be on, I'll see kif I can find out for you.......cutting the springs down will cause allsorts of running problems, best to use the right ones..........those markings on the jet needles ard hard to see....or is it my old eyes  :lol..........where you from ?.....post in the intro section and tell us a bit about yourself....oh....and we do like pictures.......

The needles should be on 3rd mark (from the top) when i applied the diaphragms, the carb was running too rich (even using default carb fuel intake modification 2spins) , so i lowered the needle to 2nd gap, runs almost smooth. Before that it was kinda gagging and vibrating when i`m giving full throtle. Yeah i was too excited to get all the needed information and reading havent had time to config my profile. I`m from Latvia btw.
