Silencer recommendations
« on: 07 November 2015, 09:25:48 pm »
I'm looking to change the stock silencer to something smaller, lighter, smarter and noisier (but not crazy loud)! I don't want to spend stupid money on something like an Akropovic or Yoshimura.

I ordered a Delkevic 350mm oval. Cheap as chips but the damn thing would not fit properly (not enough clearance between the can and the rear footrest bracket) so it had to go back.

I'm now looking at a Scorpion (http://www.scorpion-exhausts.com/product-details.html?autoid=809). Does anyone have any experience of this or have any other suggestions for similar sort of money?

Thanks

I've got the carbon version of that Scorpion on mine. Works well with Ivan's Full Monty. This is the second one I've had (trashed the first). Both fitted well, second one seems a bit louder than the first, or maybe just perception. I run it baffle out for the Ivan's. Had a Delkevic tri-oval previously, seemed to strangle the bike a bit. Was more than I wanted to spend, but knew it would work well, so went 'oh-foc-it' :lol

It's a bit longer than I would have liked, but didn't want even more noise, it's plenty loud enough. Doesn't look as bulky as the standard can, and is a fraction of the weight.

I think mickvp has one as well, so maybe he'll give a second opinion.

Yeah, I have the same one in the titanium finish. Really nice quality. I got mine from click car parts.

I run mines with the baffle out as well as I have the full monty too, pretty happy with mine.

Noise level and tone is about right for me, wouldn't want to shorty one as I think it would
Just become ridiculously loud and I prefer a smidge more torque over a bit more top end power.

If it's broken, it's not fixed.

+1 for the Mivv, use mine baffle in with full monty.

Yes, I think they are - we got them from the dealer we bought the bike from as the "official" fairing lowers (I think they were made in France). I think I still some info on them and if I can find it I'll scan and post it.

Overall, the lowers are great, keep feet warm and dry and seem of great quality, with a perfect colour match.

Hmmmm

The Mivv arrived today. Not overly impressed with the build quality - some welding spatter spots on the connecting pipe. Also the pipe clamp was too small and the hanger bracket covers the Mivv logo. In two minds whether to send it back completely or just request the correct pipe clamp.

Strange.

The two other guys on this thread with mivv cans look like theirs fit in exactly the same way (with the same clamp), but the logo is in a different place on their cans.

Exactly. I don't seem to be having much luck. The Delkevic didn't fit and now this....grrrr
