That's a good price.

I liked them.  Nice neutral handling, and they stay round, they don't tend to square off (not with me they didn't anyway) so they still handle nice when well worn.  Good grip in all conditions.  Just about 6000 miles oot o the rear.

I did find if you are really pushing it in the dry, like gassing it out of tight corners, the rear could step out a wee bit, but was never scary.

I'm on PR3's now.  Even more confidence in the wet.  Total confidence in the dry, can't get them to miss-behave no matter how hard I push.

PR2 - good.  PR3 - even better.  PR4 - not tried em.

So yeah all down to price.

I've had Road 2s for the last couple of changes and been very happy with performance and wear.  At that price, I'll be shopping for another pair to go in the spares cupboard for next year.

However, I caveat that by saying I've not done a single wet-weather mile on them in 3 years. :D

Yeah, I know - don't hate me for it. :lol

Just bought a brand new michelin pilot road 2 rear off gumtree from a lovely young lady who got it with the bike she bought. It has a receipt with it and still wrapped in the sleeving. It was only bought in july this year. I paid £50 :D  Only need a front now.. Anyone interested in a bt 014 front thats done approx 1500 miles and is showing no signs of wear. The rear has been frazzled by me in that time. Every time i headed up north for a ride and stopped you could rub a mm off because it was getting shredded :eek  Lovely sticky tyre, but didn't last long :(
If it's broken, it's not fixed.

I changed my rear PR2 last week at 15k of mainly motorway miles for another PR2. It had survived 2 punctures, both RAC repaired then fully repair by tyre shop, at speed on motorways and was a little squared off naturally but still handled well enough.

The front that was fitted at the same time as looks like it can do another 15k, mental. All weathers bar snow (because we didn't have any) and completely inspiring right up until the last 1k I'd say when the back got a bit looser on some greasy B road bends, but then show me a tyre that wouldn't have slipped a bit in those conditions.

Cheers,
Rob

They may be cheap because they are old stock, the general advice is not to buy anything older than two years.

Every tyre has a manufacturing date on it in the following format 10/14, first 2 numbers equal the week second 2 numbers equal the year i.e. 10/14 = week 10 of 2014.

check before you buy, I always make sure mine are less than six months old when fitted.

I don't get why anyone would want second hand tyres? To me that is like buying a second hand condom, I don't care seller is an ugly virgin who swears blind they only opened the wrapper to check it for size, it is not going to happen!

I can understand wanting to save some money, but when you are talking about less then £100 over 6,000 miles, which is the difference between brand new top of the range T30's @ £234 delivered and a special on a discontinued tyre that wasn't that bad in its day but was never top of the class, it hardly seems worth the bother. The actual saving is about the price of a pint of beer for every tank full of petrol (£3 every 180 miles). If that really was important, you would save a lot more by using some Contenental touring tyres that not only last 10,000 miles plus, but feel so shite that you never ride them hard enough to wear them out.
