You still need to lacquer it over once dipped, just in case you weren't aware.

Also have a check of your cush drive.

After brakes, tyres are one of the most important parts of a bike. They're the only things keeping you off the deck. Don't scrimp on them.

Track riders have a saying: "It's cheaper to replace the tyres, than to repair the bike."

6
Sorry if you know this already, but if you look at the sidewall of the tyre you should find a four digit number stamped on it's own and this will tell when the tyre was made. For example 1016 would mean it was made in the tenth week of 2016, 4312 = 43rd week of 2012, etc.

didnt know that - turned my last from tyre into a table and turns out that was made in 2013 so no wonder it was cracked

 :) :) :) :) :)

was ment to go for my race licence this year but its been put on hold as i havent moved yet
maybe next year (or do half a season practice if i get sorted)

Do it! It'll be one of the best things you ever did. I raced with BEMSEE from 2007 to 2009 in Powerbikes, it was awesome. Best way to be terrified and excited at the same time. Be warned, it's hugely addictive.

Racers use 2 lines as the ACU Governing Body banned cross over lines as tyre or mudguard failure could and has severed the cross over line causing crashes.
Sorry to be a nerd. You can use a splitter on a race bike under ACU regs, as long as the splitter is not lower than the bottom yoke.
Ruby Racing we are nerds together
14.22 BRAKES For machines fitted with two front disc brakes, a split of the front brake lines for both front brake calipers must be made at or above the lower fork yoke

there are some bikes with the splitter underneath the lower yoke so its prob just a 'do em all' solution

LOL. We certainly are. However you have the edge. I nearly searched for the relevant clause in the ACU handbook, but didn't. You however........................ :lol :lol :lol :lol

Thanks but I'm not talking about the kosos.

I'm talking about the really cheap £5 ones on ebay. The one I have at the moment isn't working anywhere near correctly and I'm wondering if perhaps its faulty. I've bought another one and will see if the new one is any better.

I knew you weren't talking about Koso's, just mentioned that I bought a Chinese one, it was shit, so I sent it back and bought a Koso.

If it only cost you £5 then that tells you all you need to know. Just buy a Koso, Acewell, etc and save yourself some grief.

12
Second hand Koso's regularly pop up on ebay.

13
I bought a Chinese Koso rip off and it was shit! Sent it back and bought a Koso. Quality items and have had one fitted to my ZRX1200R for a number of years and still going strong and has been subjected to very heavy rain a couple of times.

I tried it and failed. Motorcycles have far too many curves. Even the pros don't like doing motorcycles.

« on: 03 September 2017, 09:28:08 pm »
myself and RUBY (above) created a alluminium bracket to mount new koso (or my koso copy) onto our top yokes
before i had my koso i just chopped half the fairing bracket to hold the oem speedo inplace at first
make sure to have a good read throughh rubys blog its well worth it
and you can see what i did to my fairing cage as a temp measure in
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ywO2CfWJx4 (it was bent to buggery due to being dropped)

Cheers Disorderlypunk.

Some important things to consider:

The distance between the fork centres need to be the same or the axle will not work. May just need different spacers, but probably a new axle as well. Also think about wether the calipers will hit the wheel if the forks on the XJR are closer.

The fork offset may be different and that can affect the handling. Measure the distance between the centre of the stem nut and the centres of the fork tops.

The lock stops may be in completely different places.

The fork tube diameters may be completely different.

The mounts for the ignition key may not be compatible, or may put the ignition in a place where it will hit stuff.

Probably some other issues to check as well!

I've read about issues with other Delkevic stuff not being up to scratch, like their radiators for the Kawasaki ZRX.

Thanks for the plug and apologies to everyone for the lack of progress on my build. Caused by having to prep a new bike for track duties when my previous one shat it's gearbox and crank!

Further delays possible as just bought a 2001 ZX-7R and am now modding that (suspension front and rear, shedding weight) for track use also.

Sorry!

Makes you wonder how large the "sports" bike sector is nowadays.

It's going down hill, but more nakeds are selling.

The 600 sports bikes sales have dropped through the floor. Honda have stopped selling the CBR600RR in Europe as it's not Euro 4 compliant and I'm pretty sure Kawasaki has stopped selling the ZX-6R too. Not sure about the Suzuki. Only Yamaha brought out a new R6 last year. Although there was a report in one of the mags that a couple of years ago Yamaha had sold a couple of thousand R6's in a year, but in 2016 it was in the low hundreds.

20

However I'm impressed at yours and prefer it to the RS looks wise

Thank you.  :D

21
Yamaha are doing the MT 10 in an SP version why not do that with the full beans R1 engine ?? It looks like Triumph are getting the idea with the new 765 striple 3 versions of the same bike with 3 states of engine tune with the full fat version RS putting out 128bhp and ohlins suspension and brembo brakes, it's not cheap at 12.5K.

But then the new Triple is not a detuned Daytona, it's a model in it's own right. Or is it?  ;)

What's the betting a Daytona 765 is on the cards?

You could always do what I did and build your own full fat naked. Behold my Daytona Street:

Just follow the advice of
Dudeofrude

Or MHP do bespoke stuff and are rated. Article on them in this months Performance Bikes magazine.

Hi would anyone on here know if the exhausts off of a 2006 R1 would fit a 2005 fz6?  Or know of any other exhaust that would fit?
Just looking at something a bit louder than standard.

Are you talking about the full system or just the end can?

24

Yes the MT-10 is basically an upright R1 but it's 'detuned'

I know, however from the tests it appears to be less detuned than most and very close in performance to the Tuono, which is the least castrated of the nakeds.

Try one, I'm sure you won't find it lacking.

25
my human rights have been violated Yamaha ,it's time to stop making me feel old and give me an R1 upright and while you're at it bring back 2 strokes. :)

Er, I think that's what you have in the MT-10!  ;)
